About the Role
Clean Chemistry is currently expanding into new markets including Food & Beverage and
Pulp & Paper. The Treatment Operator position will provide operational support for ongoing
water treatment operations at Oil & Gas locations as well as field trials at various locations
for both Food & Beverage plants and Pulp & Paper mill applications. Field trial support
includes travel to locations for initial rig-up, operation of equipment (day or night shift),
collection of trial data, and rig-down of equipment. This is an hourly position with the
possibility for overtime during extended trials. In between trials the Treatment Operator will
work in the Longmont office(s) on a standard 40-hour work week performing a variety of
activities including equipment upgrades / rebuilds, preparation for future trials, and assisting
in the manufacture of new equipment. Trial operation activities include monitoring Clean
Chemistry equipment to ensure proper function and adjusting if necessary, collection of
samples and performing basic analytical tests as needed, trouble-shooting, and
communicating with both Clean Chemistry personnel as well as customer points-of-contact
as needed. This position is a field operations position and will require significant travel. The
Treatment Operator will initially report directly to the VP of Energy Operations.
Responsibilities
● Adhere to Clean Chemistry safety policies and procedures and any safety protocols
required at customer facilities; participate in any related safety training
● Travel to customer locations for water treatment operations, product trial operations.
Travel duration of one to 4 weeks or more at a time can be expected. This may be
night or day shift operations support at a frac site or facility or on-call as needed
● Install and operate Clean Chemistry’s chemical production systems at customer
facilities for product trials and permanent installations
● Collect and document data, observations and chemical inventory as required per
facility
● Perform analytical testing as needed
● Develop a detailed proficiency for Clean Chemistry’s chemical production systems to
maintain, troubleshoot and repair chemical production equipment
● Trouble-shoot any equipment issues and work with support staff to solve problems
● Communicate regularly with supervisors, co-workers, distributors and customers
● Work as a part of Clean Chemistry’s team of technical and industry experts to safely
perform product trials to win new customers
● Assist the operations team as needed to ensure trial success
● Work closely with other Clean Chemistry field trial personnel, engineering support,
and laboratory personnel
● Work independently on a day-to-day basis
● Become part of the Clean Chemistry team and contribute wherever necessary to
achieve success
Requirements
● 3+ years experience in heavy industry or plant operations, preferred but not required
● 3+ years experience in water treatment technologies and/or equipment, preferred but
not required
● Experience working in manufacturing and industrial facilities
● Familiar with water analytical methods such as pH, ORP, titrations, and microbial
testing
● Highly self motivated, must have good problem solving and organizational skills,
good house-keeping and chemical hygiene habits
● Able and willing to work day or night shift, after hours, weekends, and holidays, if
required
● Able to travel in the US and internationally, preferred
● Able to travel independently, drive and work in industrial facilities with moderate
walking distances, flights of stairs, and seasonal outdoor temperature variations (hot
and below freezing)
● Work with Operations and Engineering staff to identify and fix equipment problems
● Manage on-site supplies and spare parts inventory, monitor and record chemical
inventory
● Demonstrated ability to work independently and in remote locations
● Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Strong interpersonal skills to engage and develop good working relationships with
operations personnel and customer representatives
● Record of responsibility and integrity in prior positions
● Willingness to work in a high growth, start-up environment and adapt to changing
needs and priorities
● Eagerness to learn new things
Additional Requirements
● Must be able to follow all safety procedures and policies in both laboratory and field
settings. Must follow internal as well as site specific safety policies.
● Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle
according to Clean Chemistry’s policies and insurance guidelines.
● Must be willing to travel up to 100% of the time including extended visits to customer
sites.
● Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
● Must have familiarity with common computer programs (eg. Excel, Word, Google
Drive experience).
● Must be comfortable working with chemicals, including hazmat materials.
● Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check as the employee
will be expected to work with heavy equipment and in industrial settings.
● Able to frequently bend, twist, stand and climb stairs
Preferred Experience
● Preferred experience working in industrial facilities which may include oilfield service
operations, pulp & paper, water treatment, chemical, food & beverage manufacturing
● Familiarity with calculating chemical concentrations and converting units of measure
● Experience with chemical hygiene and safety programs
● Hands-on experience working with PLC’s, process sensors, control signals, power
supplies, motors, and pumps
● Chemical or water analysis using hand held probes, titration kits, test strips, process
sensors
● Experience with data collection platforms, communication applications and Google
Suite tools
● Equipment assembly or fabrication experience
