Position Summary

Members, supporters and colleagues visit our Girl Scout Leadership Center in Madison and we are seeking someone to welcome them! As a Customer Care & Retail Specialist, you will serve customers shopping in our Girl Scout store, respond to phone calls and emails, and fulfill orders for our online store. Helping a Kindergartener pick out her first Girl Scout Daisy uniform is one of the best feelings and something you will get to do regularly! We are seeking a people-person who connects with members and volunteers who can also manage the details of a store and front desk—deliveries, mail, inventory and perhaps even connecting a parent with their Girl Scout’s special stuffed someone they forgot under their bunk at camp. You will represent Girl Scouts to all who shop in our store and visit our Leadership Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Welcome and build relationships with volunteers, members and others visiting the Girl Scout Leadership Center.
- Delight customers with excellent service.
- Complete retail transactions with a high level of efficiency and accuracy.
- Create attractive and tidy merchandise displays in the retail store.
- Monitor shop inventory levels and work with Retail Manager to order as needed.
- Fulfill and ship online retail orders.
- Maintain an organized front-desk area, managing incoming and outgoing mail, packages and orders.
- Accurately complete retail paperwork such as purchase orders and daily deposits.
- Work with colleagues leading Girl Scout events to order and distribute the badges earned.
- Provide a retail shopping experience at Girl Scout programs held at Leadership Centers, camps and other venues.
- Respond to phone calls and emails from members and customers, using council resources to find answers and provide assistance, logging interactions in Salesforce.
- Assist customers with general questions about Girl Scouts and our mission.
- Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming and be committed to the Girl Scout mission. Prior Girl Scout experience is not required.
- Spanish/Bilingual skills a plus.
Education or Experience- Minimum of one year successful work experience in a retail and customer service role.
- Excellent customer service and people skills.
- Retail experience assisting customers and maintaining accurate inventory using a point of sale system.
- People-focused work-style with an ability to connect and build relationships.
- Strong computer skills and Microsoft office experience required. Customer relationship management systems, such as Salesforce, preferred.
- Must be able to occasionally work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for Girl Scout events.
- Possess a valid driver’s License and proof of insurance.
- Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site.
- Travels throughout council jurisdiction 10% of working time; overnights, rare.
- The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Operate office equipment manually.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.

Expected hours: 37.5 hours per week
Hourly rate: $17-$20
