The Environmental Technician I assists with field projects, completes all field tasks, including mobilization, sampling materials in the field, documentation of field procedures, and any related tasks in support of field efforts. The Environmental Technician professionally prepares documents (figures, tables, text, email correspondence, etc.) to describe and present results.
Responsibilities:
- Mobilize and maintain field testing equipment including GeoprobeTM.
- Assists staff on project related to Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Conduct fieldwork including sample collection (soil, groundwater, soil vapor), sample delivery, and document sampling procedures (soil boring logs, monitoring well construction diagrams, well purge logs, vapor logs, etc.).
- Receive and review analytical data, assemble tables, figures (using GIS, CAD, EQuIS, Surfer, etc.).
- Prepare summary text of sampling procedures and analytical results.
- Assist in the preparation of conclusions and recommendations in written and verbal form.
- Assist Project Manager and Director of Environmental Services with research of field equipment, procedures and means/methods in support of fieldwork.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science or other physical sciences/applicable degree program.
Experience: Minimum 1-3 years.
Required Competencies:
Excellent attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, understanding of general environmental health and safety standards, ability to work independently, valid driver’s license.
Preferred Competencies:
Willingness to use/operate GeoprobeTM drilling rig – on–the–job training provided. Completion of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and 8-hour refreshers (if applicable). ArcGIS experience creating figures or modeling data. AutoCAD, CivilCAD, REVIT or comparable drafting software. Earthsoft EQuIS data management software knowledge.
