POSITION SUMMARY
The SVP of Resource Development leads HFUW's efforts to diversify and grow revenue across multiple streams, working closely with senior leadership to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals and drive innovation. They mentor the Resource Development team, ensure strong donor stewardship, and collaborate with key departments and community stakeholders to maximize fundraising impact, engagement, and retention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:- Lead HFUW’s efforts to diversify and grow revenue streams by developing and executing a comprehensive Resource Development strategy. Align fundraising efforts with organizational goals, including corporate, individual, major and planned gifts, workplace campaigns, events, and foundations.
- Partner with the CEO, COO, and senior leadership team to set and achieve short- and long-term fundraising objectives. Drive innovation by leveraging new technologies and best practices to optimize donor engagement and revenue generation.
- Collaborate with the Community Impact team to ensure alignment of fundraising strategies with the organization’s mission, driving impactful outcomes for the communities served by HFUW.
- Work closely with Marketing & Communications, Events & Experiences, and Finance to ensure a cohesive approach to fundraising, donor stewardship, and reporting.
- Oversee the Resource Development budget, ensuring efficient use of resources to maximize fundraising impact. Ensure measurable goals are met and that all fundraising activities are executed with excellence.
- Lead and mentor the RD team, fostering a high-performance culture. Provide ongoing coaching, training, and professional development opportunities to staff, ensuring alignment with department and organizational objectives.
- Set clear expectations and hold staff accountable for fundraising outcomes. Provide regular performance feedback and implement strategies for continuous improvement and skill-building.
- Collaborate with volunteer leaders and community stakeholders to build a strong network of supporters, ensuring volunteers are motivated and aligned with the organization's goals.
- Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, corporations, and foundations, expanding HFUW’s donor base. Design and implement strategies to increase donor engagement and retention across all segments.
- Ensure a strong focus on donor retention and satisfaction through personalized stewardship, clear communication of the impact of their gifts, and consistent engagement throughout the donor lifecycle.
- Drive key fundraising initiatives, including workplace campaigns, special events, affinity groups, and online giving campaigns, ensuring alignment with HFUW’s mission and objectives.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals to secure long-term support for HFUW’s programs.
- Use data analytics and market trends to inform fundraising strategies, track progress, and adjust tactics to ensure targets are met.
- Develop and implement systems for tracking and reporting on fundraising progress, ensuring all revenue streams are aligned with organizational goals and outcomes.
- Monitor and adjust strategies based on financial performance, market conditions, and emerging opportunities, with a focus on mitigating risks while capitalizing on growth opportunities.
- Act as a visible leader in the community, cultivating relationships with business leaders, volunteers, donors, and key stakeholders to promote HFUW’s mission and programs.
- Guide and support volunteer committees to leverage peer-to-peer engagement, maximize fundraising efforts, and drive long-term donor loyalty.
- Work with the Marketing & Communications team to develop materials and campaigns that resonate with target donor segments, ensuring effective messaging and outreach.
- Contribute to overall organizational success by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job requirements include:- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or related field required, or equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered in lieu of degree. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Fundraising Professional (CFRE) preferred.
- Ten years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or resource development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, required.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and working with senior leaders to drive organizational success.
- Proven track record of leading successful fundraising campaigns, cultivating major gifts, and building strategic partnerships.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with fundraising technologies, CRM platforms, and data analytics.
- Understanding of tax laws, planned giving and corporate social responsibility practices.
- Public speaking and presentation experience required.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office required.
- Must have access to a private, secure, and stable internet connection.
- Must have access to a quiet, confidential workspace.
