SUMMARY
Responsible for safely and efficiently helping in the wiring of asphalt plant components and related equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate crane and forklift. Crane and Forklift safety course and lockout/tagout training is preferred.
- Have basic math skills (adding, subtracting, division, multiplying, and decimals).
- Ability to understand Astec electrical schematics and ability to read them.
- Be able to connect leads and 480V cables out of motors and be able to hook up 110V control cables to termination points (power panels). Plus be able to identify and cut various electrical cables.
- Be able to thread and bend galvanized conduit.
- Be able to learn Astec terminology to identify motors and main components/equipment of asphalt plants (detail layout of various plant types).
- Have knowledge of and be able to use the following power tools: conduit threader, drills, drill press, air and electric grinders (pencil, wheel, bench), cut-off saw (disc), jig and skill saws, reciprocating saw, stick and mig welding machines, oxy and acetylene torches and tank contents, voltmeter, hydraulic punch knockout, and basic hand tools orientation.
- Keep work area clean and neat.
- Clock in properly on assigned jobs, as appropriate.
- Be able to know wiring from 16 gauge up to 500 MCM and know the conduit size for the wiring being used.
- Follows company policies and procedures at all times.
- Follows proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES- Crane and forklift safety course and lockout/tagout training is required.

- Successful completion of basic industrial electrical and basic welding course preferred, or appropriate knowledge required.
- High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
- Must be able to work satisfactorily as a team member.
