@Orchard LLC, is a subcontractor to the VA, assisting with contract roles within the hospital system. We have an urgent need for Board Certified Anesthesiologist to support the VA’s hospital facilities in Albuquerque, NM.

About the role
The anesthesiologist will provide exceptional anesthesia care to Veterans, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and community standards. This role includes pre-operative evaluations, direct anesthesia administration, the supervision of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and active participation in team-based care and educational activities. The anesthesiologist will contribute to the overall mission of excellence in Veteran care through professionalism, technical skill, and a commitment to ongoing learning

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional anesthesia care to our Veteran inpatients and outpatients following hospital policy and community standards.
  • Perform pre-operative and pre-procedural anesthetic risk assessment. Evaluation includes obtaining the relevant history, performing a physical exam, reviewing vital signs, lab values, and all other relevant diagnostic studies before surgery. 
  • Provide direct anesthesia services including the administration of anesthetic agents, and performance of procedures including but not limited to peripheral IV placement, arterial catheter placement, central venous catheter placement, and placement of related invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices.
  • Participate in the Anesthesia pre-operative assessment clinic.
  • Supervise CRNAs in the provision of anesthesia team care.
  • Anesthesiologist sites of responsibility include providing patient care in the Operating Room, PACU, Intensive Care Unit, Pain Clinic, IR suite, GI suite, and other locations as required.
  • Participate in the Weekend/Holiday/Evening/Night on-call schedule in a proportion equivalent to other members of that section.
  • Be responsible for providing objective information regarding the risks and benefits of relevant anesthetic treatments and securing the informed consent of the patient, legal guardian, or next of kin before administering said treatments.
  • Perform inpatient and outpatient face-to-face consultations and e-consultations as requested.
  • Comply with information security policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of the changes associated with the aging and disease process and the ability to provide care based on age and disease-related factors as specified on the competence assessment checklist.
  • Participate in the education and training of nurses, technicians, medical students, residents, fellows, and medical staff as appropriate.
  • Maintain skills in the use of the VA electronic medical record.
Your background and qualification will include.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) licensed to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Colombia.
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), certified in HER and CPRS.
