Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council runs three yearly summer overnight camps: Misty Meadows Ranch, Camp Agnes Arnold, and Casa Mare. GSSJC camp staff will be trained to work at all three camps, but primarily work at Misty Meadows and Agnes Arnold in Conroe, TX. Staff will live onsite Sunday noon through Saturday noon. Room and board is provided for all staff. Living accommodations are primarily climate controlled, but staff must be willing to live, sleep, and work in non-airconditioned spaces.

SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP LEADERSIP TEAM POSITIONS

Assistant Camp Director (currently filled)
The Assistant Camp Director is responsible for assisting the Camp Director and Program Director in the overall implementation of the GSSJC summer camp program. The Assistant Camp Director supervises all counselor staff and the general operation of the camps.

Program Director (currently filled)
The Program Director is responsible for daily schedules, programming, and all camp programs as designated by the Camp Director and overall implementation of the GSSJC summer camp program. The Program Director supervises the Program Specialists and program areas. 

Aquatics Director (currently filled)
The Aquatics Director is responsible for pool and waterfront programming and safety in accordance with ACA, GSSJC, and GSUSA standards. The Aquatics Director trains and supervises all lifeguards and waterfront lifeguard staff.

Engagement Director
The Engagement Director is responsible for assisting the Camp Director in the business operation of the camp such as parent engagement and communication and staff communication and engagement to ensure staff, parents, and campers are enjoying their camp experience. The Engagement Director does not have direct reports but assists the Assistant Camp Directors in supervising counselor staff. 

Assistant Equestrian Director (currently filled)
The Assistant Equestrian Director is responsible for assisting the Equestrian Program Manager in the overall implementation of the seasonal horseback riding programs. The Assistant Equestrian Director works as a horseback riding instructor, and helps mentor Equestrian Staff and Equestrian Counselors.

Health Supervisor
The Health Supervisor is a licensed practitioner and is responsible for supervising the general health of campers and staff ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety standards and policies. The Health Supervisor supervises the camp Health Specialists and MESH Specialist.

General Information:
GSSJC provides applicable trainings for hired staff. 

All camp management staff are considered role models to all campers and staff at GSSJC overnight camps and are expected to participate in camp activities such as evening all camp activities, meals in the lodge, evening camper supervision, and camp check in and check out.
 
Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older (unless the position is specified otherwise)
  • Enjoy working with youth
  • Experience managing a team of people or program delivery
  • Experience working at an overnight summer camp program or equivalent experience
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive a 12 passenger van
  • Ability to reside at the camp property for the duration of the camp season and occasionally live in non-airconditioned spaces (All meals and housing arrangements are covered by GSSJC for Overnight Camp positions)
  • This position performs its duties indoors and in outdoor weather conditions. This position is exposed to outdoor weather conditions, requiring a tolerance to work in hot summer conditions.  Not all sleeping arrangements may be climate controlled.
