Description
We are currently taking resumes/applications for an EXPERIENCED Marine Electricians for the Morgan City, LA and surrounding area.  Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:
  • Job Scope:
    • Installing and repairs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ship and in shipyard facilities, following blueprints and wiring diagrams
  • Position Requirements:
    • MUST be able to pass drug screen
    • MUST have reliable transportation.
    • MUST be able to provide own basic hand tools
    • MUST be able to provide PPE (Hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, & gloves)
  • Required Skills:
    • Candidate must have ELECTRICAN & conduit experience
    • Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment.
    • Awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations.
    • Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions.
    • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents.
    • Requires extensive knowledge of electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations.
    • Must also be able to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, or instructions.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Installs conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws, using hand tools, and threads wires through conduit to terminals, for example connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.
    • Strips insulation from wire ends and solders ends to terminals, using stripping pliers and soldering iron. Connects power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment.
    • Tests electrical characteristics, for example, voltage, resistance, and phase angle, in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators.
    • May also construct instrument panels, using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills, following specifications.
    • Troubleshoots electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and effect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements.
    • Performs maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm and lighting circuits.
    • Conducts insulation resistance measurements of electrical cables to determine condition and effects repairs or replacements as required.
    • Supervises and participates in the installation and/or alteration to electrical systems aboard ships.
    • Maintains adequate inventories of electrical spare parts and requisitions replacements as required.
    • Maintains electrical system maintenance histories notating date, and extent of repairs and/or alterations.
    • Cleaning and preparing a job site
      • Mange housekeeping activities when requested.
      • Maintain the work area clean, safe, and organized.
      • Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities.
    • Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor in a timely manner.
    • Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards.
    • Understand safety precautions associated with working in trenches and trench boxes.
      • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
      • Meet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standards
      • Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediately
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
    • Must have good endurance
    • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.
    • Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
      • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
      • Ability to work in an environment with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
      • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
