ABOUT THE POSITION
The CAD Administrator ensures the stable operation of SOLIDWORKS, PDM, and DraftSight software while promoting global CAD standards within Astec. This role involves developing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing these platforms to support business needs, integrating CAD data from other software into SOLIDWORKS workflows, and resolving user issues efficiently. This role is ideal for a professional with deep expertise in SOLIDWORKS, PDM, DraftSight, and Toolbox administration who is committed to delivering high-quality solutions, integrating diverse CAD data, and enhancing CAD processes in a collaborative environment.
LOCATION: This position is onsite, but can be at any Astec US or Canadian location (TN, SD, OR, KS, WI, IL or Thornbury, ONT). Preference for Chattanooga, TN or Yankton, SD.
Key Activities & Responsibilities- Administer and maintain SOLIDWORKS PDM vault, workflows, data cards, templates, and settings.
- Provide expertise and technical support for SOLIDWORKS, DraftSight, and SOLIDWORKS Toolbox administration, including configurations, customizations, and updates.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for SOLIDWORKS-related software administration and usage.
- Plan and execute CAD data migration projects, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption.
- Integrate CAD data from external software, such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Creo, into SOLIDWORKS based workflows to streamline processes and maintain data consistency.
- Manage and resolve Helpdesk tickets related to SOLIDWORKS, PDM, and DraftSight issues.
- Provide training and guidance to users on SOLIDWORKS tools, workflows, and best practices.
- Research and recommend improvements to leverage the full capabilities of SOLIDWORKS, PDM, and DraftSight.
- Schedule and perform software updates and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and resolve software, system, and hardware issues related to the CAD environment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices related to CAD, ERP, and data integration.
- Aggressively support and promote the culture of OneASTEC.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
Education:- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:- 5+ years of hands-on experience using and administering SOLIDWORKS, PDM, DraftSight, and Toolbox in a multi-site corporate environment.
- Proficient in managing SOLIDWORKS PDM workflows, data cards, and templates.
- Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS Manage implementation and optimization.
- Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS Electrical implementation and optimization.
- Experience integrating CAD data from AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Creo into SOLIDWORKS workflows.
- SQL Server scripting strongly preferred
- Python scripting (or similar), and .NET is preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing environments and publicly traded companies (SOX compliance) preferred.
Skills:- Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage and resolve Helpdesk tickets effectively.
- Capable of training users and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills, including report writing and public speaking.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
