Patient Access Associate: PT 24 hours per week (M-W-F) (8am- 430pm), Weekends as needed
Pay Range: $17.40 - $27.84/Hr (actual offer rates based upon applicants relevant experience pertaining to the position)

Purpose of Job :
The Patient Access Associate (Level 1) is responsible for the registration, admission, bed management, financial clearance and cash collection for services provided by Howard University Hospital. Obtains and verifies demographic and financial information for all patients registered in the hospital and pre-registered prior to arriving at the hospital. Performs duties in a variety of departments and units as directed.
The Patient Access Associate:- Familiarity with medical terminology and medical record keeping
- Working knowledge of electronic scanning and documentation via all applicable systems.
- Demonstrates excellent public relations, customer service skills and telephone etiquette.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to interpret clinical data sufficiently to determine eligibility for various insurance programs.
- Capable of operating in a medical office environment
- Excellent customer service skills in all direct interactions with patients, family members, clinicians, third party payers, hospital employees and co-workers.
- Excellent auditing and analytical skills for reconciliation of accounts, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and working knowledge of all Microsoft applications.
- Have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Associate's Degree Preferred
- Three (3) years’ experience in patient access/registration, billing, cash collections, insurance, pre-certifications or related experience in a medical center/physician office environment.
