POSITION SUMMARY:
Rappahannock Goodwill Industries (RGI) is searching for an E-Commerce Shipper. This individual is responsible for performing a variety of duties that support Rappahannock Goodwill’s on-line sales of donated items

DUTIES:  
  • Packs and seals customer orders securely to prevent damage during transit.
  • Prints packing slips and labels, places postage to prepare for shipping, and adds insurance and signature requirements for all packages valued at $100 or more.
  • Inspects items for damage or discrepancies before packing and escalates concerns to the supervisor.
  • Ensures the right items are sent to the correct customer.
  • Ships all outbound orders and sort shipments into the appropriate containers
  • Maintains a defect rate of less than 2% on all shipped merchandise
  • Collaborates with the E-Commerce team to meet shipping deadlines and resolve order issues.
  • Organizes and maintains shipping supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels.
  • Transports product through the warehouse to the loading area.
  • Occasionally interacts with customers for merchandise pickup.
  • Occasionally picks items for shipping.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping, and safety within their desk and work area.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and company policies during all shipping operations.
  • Perform other job duties as required.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Must be a reliable team member that is aware of the work needs of others.
  • Must be able to meet daily goals and timeliness with minimal supervision.
  • Must consistently exhibit a professional image and a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with shipping software and technology (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx platforms). 
  • Must be able to provide continuous feedback for process improvements.

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • At least 1 years’ experience working with people with disabilities.
  • At least 1 years’ experience in shipping, warehousing, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with E-Commerce platforms such as eBay and Amazon.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with shipping software and technology (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx platforms).
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with E-Commerce platforms such as eBay and Amazon.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Previous customer service experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
  • Mobility: Frequent movement within the facility, including walking and standing for prolonged periods, up to 8 hours per shift and occasionally climbs ladders and stairs and navigates tight or confined spaces.
  • Lifting Requirements: Regularly lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and regularly lifts items weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Posture & Movements: Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and reaching in various directions, including overhead.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regular use of hands and fingers to handle or feel, grasp, and manipulate objects, tools, or controls. Must also be able to perform repetitive tasks with precision, such as packing, labeling, and keyboard use.
  • Vision Requirements: Must possess close vision, color vision, and depth perception to accurately inspect products and materials. Must also be able to adjust focus to identify details in various lighting conditions.
  • Communication: Must be able to listen and respond effectively to verbal instructions and communicate and interact with colleagues, supervisors, or customers via email, phone, or in person.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
 
  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment with moderate exposure to temperature changes, dust, and noise levels consistent with standard warehouse operations.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions when transporting or loading items.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves or safety shoes, as required.
  • Regularly operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, carts, packsize machines and hand trucks.
  • Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
