United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) is searching for several positions to lead and support the work of our development division. UWTC is seeking leaders who can compellingly articulate our mission and vision to increase our fundraising initiatives and invite people throughout the community to join us in the work we are performing to improve the lives of residents throughout Tarrant County.
UWTC brings people together to build strong communities where everyone thrives. As a nonprofit leader, we help communities tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and nonprofit partners to boost education, financial stability, and health resources. We also serve as the regional grantee for Tarrant County’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA), invest in and maintain a cooperative relationship with the state’s 2-1-1 call center and provide support to local veterans, active military personnel and their families through our partnership with the Texas Veterans Network. United Way of Tarrant County and AAA employ approximately 80 people dedicated to our mission. We celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2022 and are ready to serve Tarrant County for years to come.
Position Summary:
This key role identifies and cultivates new Leadership and Major Gifts prospects and stewards current Leadership and Major Gifts contributors and other Individual contributors (outside of workplace campaigns, which are handled by another division). The Director will leverage the strength of United Way’s volunteer leadership to help reach prospects and contributors and will help execute engagement events related to the campaign.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position reports to the VP, Development and has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Builds and manages contributor relationships throughout Tarrant County and grows the prospect pipeline.
- Increases reach and market penetration and cultivates new relationships/partnerships with individuals.
- Assists with leadership of affinity groups, such Tocqueville Society, Leadership Giving Circle, Women United, Emerging Leaders.
- Leverages volunteers to increase fundraising results and relationship building.
- Creates fundraising strategies to wrap around appropriate events, initiatives, and programmatic work; develop strong communications and recognition of donors and prospects to maintain and build the image of United Way of Tarrant County.
- Represents the organization at events as needed or requested.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of Tarrant County high-net-worth community and social services sector strongly preferred.
- Community engagement experience required; community engagement experience in Tarrant County preferred.
- Must have excellent networking and interpersonal abilities
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to provide excellent client/customer service in all interactions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize work, manage time and multiple priorities, and meet deadlines; attention to detail and accuracy; the ability to set realistic goals and objectives
- Strong written communications skills, along with highly effective oral communications including public speaking proficiency
- Ability to work with individuals and professionals at all levels
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Educational/Experience Requirements:- 8+ years of experience in a related field required.
- Bachelor-level degree can be substituted for three years of experience.
Personal Skills and Attributes:- Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish preferred
- Excellent leadership, team building, interpersonal and time management skills
- A high energy, results-oriented leader and must be a self-starter with little supervision required
- An individual with the utmost professional and personal integrity

Additional requirements related to the job:- Texas driver’s license, proper vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Reliable Internet access to support remote work.
Work Hours/Environment: Regular work hours will be during traditional working days and times of Monday-Friday 8-5PM. Flexible hours are permitted due part-time schedule and for attendance and participation at early morning, evening, and weekend meetings.- Will require some evenings, weekends for special events
- Although remote work is permitted occasionally for this position, the individual must reside primarily in Tarrant County with the ability to work from the office or other required location daily.
Physical Requirements:- Regularly sits at a desk working on a computer and may regularly walk or stand.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Regularly uses hands to finger, handle or feel and reaches with hands and arms.
- Occasionally will need to stoop or kneel and climb or balance.
- Frequently speaks and hears in interactions with coworkers and the public.
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal.
