Township Engineer | Full-Time, Direct Hire, Delaware County | $95K-$110K
Are you an experienced Civil Engineer with a passion for public improvement projects and a strong understanding of infrastructure? We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Township Engineer to lead complex engineering work involving the design and construction of roads, bridges, wastewater systems, storm drainage systems, and more. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our community by overseeing essential capital improvement projects and ensuring compliance with regulations.
A Day in the Life of a Township Engineer:
- Plan, organize, and direct the design and construction of capital improvements, ensuring compliance with land development policies, rules, and regulations.
- Oversee the review and approval of site work by private parties in accordance with approved land development plans and grading permits.
- Develop design criteria, analysis, specifications, plans, cost estimates, and inspections for road programs, storm and sanitary sewers, and other capital projects.
- Review and manage land development, subdivision, grading, and stormwater management plans.
- Supervise the MS4 Program, filing required NPDES reports, preparing written plans for Best Management Practices, and maintaining records.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the wastewater collection system.
- Coordinate and manage construction projects related to storm sewer systems, wastewater treatment, and infrastructure.
- Review development applications and make recommendations to the Planning Commission and Council.
- Issue grading permits and provide code enforcement for grading and stormwater issues.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations, engaging with the public, land developers, and private engineers.
- Coordinate work with federal, state, and county agencies and interact with residents, businesses, and utilities.
- Manage traffic control requests and assist with the bidding process for contractors.
- Prepare the Capital Budget and assist with project budgets for various infrastructure projects.
- Attend Township Council and Planning Commission meetings and perform other tasks as required.
Required Education and Experience of a Township Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the engineering field.
- Designation as a Professional Engineer (PE).
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices as applied to public works projects.
- Ability to perform complex engineering calculations and provide comprehensive recommendations.
- Experience in project planning, design, and preparation of engineering specifications.
- Strong communication skills to prepare technical reports and convey ideas effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, colleagues, and the public.
- Skill in using civil engineering instruments and equipment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience working in a township of comparable size
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods outdoors.
- Ability to sit for long periods in the office.
- May be required to lift up to 10 pounds of equipment.
