Full Time: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
Pay Range: $35.69 - $57.10 hourly (actual offer rates are based upon the applicants relevant job experience and the requirements of the position)
The Safety Officer will:- Manage, administer, and ensure the operation of the HUH Safety and Occupational Health Program, which focuses on the elimination or minimization of human injury, property and productivity losses caused by harmful contact incidents and/or, other safety hazards.
- Coordinate the development, implementation and assessment of the seven Environment of Care Management Plans (Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Emergency Management, Lab Safety, Medical Equipment and Utility Systems.)
- Conduct periodic facilities tours of the Hospital to ascertain and recommend the correction of unsafe conditions and acts, which may result in personal injury or property damage.
- Organize the Hospital's Safety Committee and serve as a member of the Hospital's Inspection Committee.
- Prepare and submit reports as required on safety conditions, in the Hospital to OSHA, TJC, D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, insurance companies and Executive Management.
- Develop and supervise the posting of evacuation plans, coordinate the locations of emergency signs, write procedures to change contaminated air filters, instruct staff on the proper handling of various contaminants, direct, coordinate and monitor the operation of an internal safety program.
- Identify existing and potential hazards in the work place including the physical plant, work processes, man/machine relationships and environmental conditions affecting health and efficiency of staff.
- Serve as a member of various committees concerned with safety matters.

Qualified candidates will possess:- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with business continuity emergency/disaster planning, disaster-related resources, and familiarization with national, state, and regional standards.
- 3 to 5 years of Joint Commission (TJC) preferred.
- Bachelor's Level Degree required; Five (5) years of business continuity emergency/disaster planning required in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
- Master's Level Degree preferred.
