Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $180-200K

Our client, an established and respected healthcare provider is seeking a Director of Nursing for Neonatology (NICU) to provide strategic leadership and oversight for a Level IV NICU department. This leader will ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities for Director of Nursing for Neonatology (NICU):

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Drive clinical excellence, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Lead staff development, mentoring, and performance management to foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Manage variation in clinical practices to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost control.
  • Monitor and enhance patient throughput, including volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
  • Stay current with industry benchmarks and accreditation standards and actively lead the department in achieving them.
  • Oversee budgeting and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations.

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Professional Nurse license in the state of New York.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Master’s Degree in a related field, or Bachelor’s in another field with a Master’s in Nursing.
  • BLS certification required at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks.
  • Certification in a NICU or nursing specialty preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management/leadership experience in a Level IV NICU required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and a strong understanding of NICU regulatory requirements and guidelines.
