JOB TITLE: Biomarker and Companion Diagnostics Leader
LOCATION: Boston MA (Hybrid) DATE PREPARED: April 22, 2025
JOB SUMMARY:The Biomarker and Companion Diagnostics Leader at AVEO Oncology, reporting directly to the SVP, Head of Clinical Development, is responsible for leading the development and execution of biomarkers and companion diagnostic strategies to support the company's oncology pipeline. This role requires a strong background in oncology biomarker development, companion diagnostics, and clinical trial design.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive biomarker development plans and define patient selection and companion diagnostic strategies aligned with AVEO Oncology's therapeutic objectives. Thinks strategically and drives innovation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with clinical development, regulatory affairs, commercial teams, and external partners to integrate biomarker and companion diagnostic strategies into clinical trials.
• Clinical Trial Oversight: Contributes to overall development strategy and trial designs, incorporating biomarker endpoints. Oversee biomarker and diagnostic testing within clinical trials, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and scientific objectives. Drives clinical biomarker data analysis and interpretation.
• Regulatory Engagement: Lead interactions with regulatory agencies regarding companion diagnostic development and submissions.
• Mentoring skill: a willingness to mentor other team members to expand internal knowledge on biomarker and companion diagnostic development.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (BASIC QUALIFICATIONS):
• Education: PhD or MD with a focus on oncology, molecular biology, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on biomarker and companion diagnostic development in oncology. Experience in fit-for-purpose biomarker assay qualification/validation.
• Expertise: In-depth knowledge of biomarker discovery, assay development, clinical validation, and regulatory requirements for companion diagnostics. Demonstrated success in delivering high quality clinical biomarker data to inform decisions and development strategies.
• Skills: Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.About AVEO
