RN-Endoscopy
Location: Washington, DC
Our ideal candidate will provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The candidate will provide care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, including preparing them for the procedure, administering sedation, monitoring vital signs during the procedure, assisting the Physician with instruments, and ensuring patient recovery afterwards, all while maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to strict infection control protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, including pre-procedure assessments and education
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and condition before, during, and after procedures
- Assist the physician during endoscopic procedures (e.g., colonoscopy, EGD) by handling instruments and maintaining a sterile field
- Administer sedation and monitor patients’ response throughout the procedure
- Provide post-procedure care, including recovery monitoring and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, medications, and patient responses
- Follow infection control protocols and ensure equipment is properly cleaned and sterilized
- Respond to emergencies or complications during procedures with appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and comfort
Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification-required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Knowledge of gastrointestinal anatomy and common GI procedures (e.g., EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP)
- Strong understanding of infection control and sterile technique
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
- Current state nursing license
- One to three years nursing experience in an acute care setting
- ONS/ONCC certification required

- Understanding different types of infusions, including blood products, chemotherapy, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
- Proficiency in placing peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVs) and managing central venous access devices (CVADs).
- Comprehensive understanding of medications used in infusion therapies.
- Strict adherence to infection control protocols when administering infusions.
