RN-Post-Op

Location: Washington, DC

Our ideal candidate will provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. 

Responsibilities:

• Monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery after surgery
• Manage pain and administer medications as needed
• Care for surgical wounds and change dressings
• Ensure airway and breathing are stable post-anesthesia
• Educate patients and families on post-op care and discharge instructions
• Document patient condition and any treatments given
• Respond quickly to signs of complications
• Work with doctors and other nurses to coordinate care

Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Often required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – May be needed for pediatric units

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
• BLS
• DC RN license
• Prefer one-year full-time or three years’ part-time experience in acute care setting
• Requirements specified for specialty units
