Vac2Go is hiring a Full-Time Senior Mechanic in West Deptford, NJ
 
The Sr. Mechanic is responsible for conducting service and maintenance on all vacuum trucks, accessories, and equipment. This role ensures equipment is in optimal condition and ready for rental, while also acting as the main point of contact in the absence of the Operations Manager.

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Vac2Go is a provider of mission-critical equipment to industrial, utility, and municipal customers. Vac2Go offers daily to multi-month rentals of the latest model trucks and equipment to industrial service contractors, environmental contractors, the construction, excavation, and utility industries, and to state and local municipal governments. Additionally, Vac2Go provides repair and maintenance services for vacuum trucks and related equipment at all its facilities. 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Perform service and maintenance on all vacuum trucks and related equipment.

• Drive completion of the Plan of the Day and communicate priorities to the team.

• Act as the Branch lead when the Operations Manager is unavailable.

• Run diagnostics and identify issues using industry-standard systems.

• Assess and document vehicle/equipment damage.

• Perform Check-In/Check-Out procedures and confirm external repair needs.

• Manage inventory of parts and tools; place orders as needed.

• Update and maintain the daily work board.

• Monitor shop safety compliance, timecards, and payroll processes.

• Collaborate on the “Plan of the Day” and review the “Plan of the Week” with management.

• Maintain fleet documentation for DOT compliance and submit daily to the Ops Manager.

• Complete expert-level repairs and maintenance, including:

  • Clutch and brake jobs

  • A/C systems

• Deliver equipment training and troubleshoot issues with customers.

• Determine cost-efficient solutions (repair vs. replace).

• Ensure all units are rent-ready before dispatch.

• Communicate directly with customers to resolve issues professionally.

Job Qualifications:  

• Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 1–3 years of experience with automatic and manual equipment.

  • 2+ years of driving experience (CDL or Non-CDL).

  • Valid driver’s license and current DOT certification required.

  • 10-year employment history required.

  Skills:

  • Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems.

  • Proficient in diagnostics and troubleshooting.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

  • Familiarity with Fleet Management and ERP systems.
