Position Summary
The Actuary - Medicaid role provides comprehensive actuarial support for our Oregon Medicaid business. The position is responsible for a variety of actuarial analyses that help monitor financial performance and inform business strategies. Specific areas of focus include trend analysis, cost containment, forecast and budget setting, evaluating provider reimbursement, and a variety of ad hoc analyses. This is a FT hybrid role based in Portland, Oregon.


Pay Range
 $84,790.27 - $108,102.95 annually (depending on experience)
**Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range.

Required Skills, Experience & Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, actuarial science, or a closely related field.
  2. FSA or ASA with recent and relevant job experience.
  3. Proficient in SAS and Excel.
  4. Proficient in personal computer use including experience with spreadsheet, word processing, and database systems.
  5. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Demonstrates a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Maintain confidentiality and projects a professional business image.


Primary Functions:

  1. Develop reporting to assist in Medicaid rate setting process.
  2. Produce monthly and quarterly reports for Finance and Senior Leadership.
  3. Assist in the budget development.
  4. Produce regular updates to actuarial forecasts.
  5. Develop capitation rate for delegated entities.
  6. Assist in the preparation of financial filings.
  7. Monitor and report on experience for the Medicaid lines of business.
  8. Compile and verify data, prepare reports, and provide various levels of analysis and modeling work.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
