Employment Type: Part-Time, Not Benefits Eligible

Hours: 8-10 hours/week plus two-weekend retreats

Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $11,000/year

Department: Leaders in Action - NFTY

The Role

NFTY, the Reform Jewish Youth Movement, is in an exciting moment of transformation. We are seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Regional Mentor to support teen-led Reform Jewish life across the greater Philadelphia area and join a national team of passionate professionals elevating youth leadership across North America. In this role, you will mentor and develop teen leaders, strengthen relationships throughout the region, and collaborate with key stakeholders to build a vibrant and inclusive youth community that reflects the values, interests, and aspirations of today’s Jewish teens. This is not a traditional event-planning role; it's an opportunity for an organizer, a connector, and a creative thinker to help shape the future of Reform teen engagement in the area.

What You Will Do

Mentor & Guide Teen leaders

  • Coach, support, and develop the Regional Board through regular check-ins, leadership development, and values-based mentorship.

  • Design and execute a strategy for engaging congregations, youth professionals, and teens across the region as NFTY evolves and grows into the future.

Collaboration & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain 1:1 relationships with synagogue professionals, stakeholders, and teens.

  • Partner with like-minded organizations (BBYO, JSU, Keshet, etc.) to expand regional engagement.

  • Support local programming and encourage congregational led initiatives and events.

  • Host monthly conversations with a Regional Action Network of engaged stakeholders

  • Plan and attend a regional spring weekend event at Camp Harlam (Date TBD).

  • Attend and support The Collab (November 6–11, 2025 at URJ Greene Family Camp), NFTY’s premier North American gathering for teen leaders.

  • Meet bi-weekly with your supervisor for strategic reflection and support.

  • Attend monthly team meetings and training to grow your skills and share best practices.

Who You Are

You are passionate about mentoring young people and building inclusive, joyful Jewish communities. You're seeking a flexible, part-time role where you can make a real impact, helping teens grow as leaders, build community, and strengthen their Jewish identities. You bring creativity, compassion, and resilience to your work and are energized by relationships, collaboration, and strategic thinking. You're ready to help guide NFTY into its next chapter and be part of a movement that centers youth as leaders of Jewish life.

Keys to Success (the must-haves)

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring many of the following:

  • Youth Mentorship & Leadership Development: A passion for working with teens and with an earnest desire to understand their needs. Ability to coach, guide, and empower teen leaders through a values-based approach that promotes confidence, growth, and accountability. Leadership development skills that focus on peer engagement and community building, not event planning. Strong and appropriate personal boundaries in relationships with youth.

  • Organizing & Relationship Building: Ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders of all ages. Interpersonal skills that cultivate trust, build networks, and maintain deep connections with teens, synagogue professionals, and regional partners. Proven ability to bridge and build powerful, reciprocal relationships across differences, and to help others do the same.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear and empathetic communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to work across teams and roles, including teens, colleagues, and external partners. Active listening skills that enable you to be a compassionate partner and change agent with stakeholders. Respectful, open dialogue that allows you to resolve issues when expectations are not met.

  • Self-Management & Accountability: Strong organizational skills, reliability, and ability to manage responsibilities independently within a part-time structure. Ability to hold self and others accountable for delivering on commitments on time and within budget. Proactive communication if you are going to miss a deadline. Comfort navigating changes and ambiguity, while proactively identifying opportunities and taking the initiative to move ideas and relationships forward.

  • REDI Experience: A demonstrated commitment to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion, and the ability to create inclusive spaces for all teens, especially those from marginalized communities such as people of color, persons with disabilities, individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, and other often underrepresented groups. A consistent willingness to seek out voices from diverse backgrounds to build ideas and make decisions.

  • Connection to Reform Judaism: A love of the Jewish community and an appreciation of synagogues, NFTY, camp, social justice, and Israel programs. You understand and embrace their ability to transform individuals and communities. Familiarity with Reform Judaism and the Reform Jewish community a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working with teens in a mentorship, organizing, educational, or leadership development setting (Jewish or secular)

  • Residence in the Philadelphia area

  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region and attend two in-person gatherings:

  • The Collab: November 6–11, 2025 at URJ Greene Family Camp (Bruceville, TX)

  • Regional spring event at Camp Harlam (Date TBD)
