Job Summary
The Dental Surgery Assistant is a vital position and supports the dentists, specialists and hygiene teams in providing quality care. Principally responsible for maintaining a clean, safe environment and practices sound infection control measures. Assists specialists with procedures, sets up and turns over rooms between treatments according to practice and OSHA guidelines. Engages patients in friendly conversation, provides for their comfort and makes introductions to providers. Shares responsibility with the team for patient satisfaction and a high degree of customer service.
Responsibilities
- Ensures patient health histories, X-Rays, perio-charts and photographs are current and takes updated images/X-rays as required
- Obtains signed consent forms and statements of financial responsibility
- Operates Panographic, 3D Cone Beam CT and handheld X-Ray equipment
- Charts existing, completed and proposed dental treatments and updates clinical notes in practice management system
- Takes intraoral photographs and digital scans of teeth, jaw, and face
- Assists specialists chairside during procedures and coordinates with other team members
- Assists with ordering supplies and restocking inventory
- Assists with administrative tasks like scheduling appointments and performing quality control tasks
- Sterilizes instruments and equipment and performs required testing and maintenance of autoclave and statim
- Provide instructions and guidance regarding health care and health care promotion to patients/family/significant others
- Represent our group by providing outreach and education with local businesses, schools and other organizations.

Qualifications
- Excellent communicator with staff, patients, and family
- Professional appearance and attitude
- AED, CPR Qualified
- X-Ray certified
- Eagerness to learn and advance skills
- Able to multi-task and work independently and as a team
- A high degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills required
