Position Summary
The Warehouse Worker III is an experienced, hands-on role within a manufacturing warehouse environment, focused on advanced operational tasks and contributing to the development and refinement of warehouse systems. This position builds upon entry-level experience by managing complex organization, inventory operations, and cross-departmental coordination, though it does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Ideal for a skilled warehouse professional with potential to grow into a Warehouse Supervisor role through demonstrated leadership and performance. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing and supports efficient, scalable warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse Organization: Lead warehouse setup efforts including layout planning, zoning, and optimizing material flow and space usage.
- Storage Recommendations: Research, evaluate, and recommend storage solutions (e.g., bins, shelving), backed by cost analysis and inventory needs.
- Labeling and Structure: Develop and implement advanced labeling systems (e.g., barcodes or integrated codes), and define structured inventory categorization and mapping.
- Shipment Processing: Receive, inspect, verify, and sort all incoming shipments with high accuracy and ensure timely placement in storage.
- Collaboration Efforts: Work closely with production and office teams to contribute to inventory protocols, warehouse layout plans, and workflow documentation.
- Advanced Operations: Perform complex tasks such as inventory tracking, FIFO stock rotation, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolution.
- Improvement Contributions: Suggest and support process improvements, including tool upgrades and workflow enhancements; track and report performance metrics.
- Safety Compliance: Uphold and promote OSHA standards and internal safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates to the VP of Manufacturing on warehouse organization, storage needs, operational performance, and proposed purchases.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in logistics or warehouse operations preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years of warehouse experience, with a track record of organizing and improving warehouse systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in inventory tools (e.g., spreadsheets, inventory software), labeling systems, and standard warehouse equipment; familiarity with lean warehouse practices is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; clear communication and collaboration skills; self-starter capable of managing advanced tasks independently.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and operate forklifts or pallet jacks in a high-paced setting.
- Certifications: Forklift certification required; additional credentials in safety or inventory management are a plus.
