Position Type: Full Time, Employee

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (on-site)

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of directly applicable experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Demonstrated strength in at least three (3) of the following:
    • RF physics
    • Signal Processing
    •  Advanced Math (Calculus required; Differential Equations preferred)
    • Coding proficiency in a common programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Java).
  •  Proven ability to translate RF concepts into code for modeling, simulation, and algorithm development.
  •  Strong technical writing skills (reports, analyses, proposals).

Citizenship: United States citizenship required

Security Clearance: An existing security clearance is a plus, but not required. All new hires will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Candidate must be willing to obtain a TS/SCI clearance or already have one. US citizenship is required for clearance.

Job Description:

ExoAnalytic Solutions is seeking an exceptional RF Engineer to model, analyze, and develop algorithms for advanced RF systems supporting aircraft, spacecraft/satellites, missile systems, maritime, and land-based ISR platforms. While the candidate will occasionally work in the lab with SDRs, antennas, LNAs, routers/switches, and test equipment (e.g., bring-up, capture, and experiments), the majority (~60–80%) of this role focuses on concept development, analysis, modeling/simulation, algorithm/tool development, and technical writing, with the remainder on hands-on experiments and test/validation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform system-level RF analysis (e.g., link budgets, propagation/channel effects, Doppler, interference characterization) and implement these models in code.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy signal processing algorithms and modeling/simulation tools (e.g., waveform analysis, detection, classification, geolocation).
  • Plan and execute SDR-based experiments (GNU Radio, USRPs), antenna/LNA chain integration, RF data capture, and test/validation in support of modeling and algorithm verification.
  • Evaluate effectiveness and performance of RF systems via simulation, analysis, and targeted experiments.
  •  Propose, analyze, and assess novel RF concepts (system-level trades, waveforms, antenna/hardware approaches) with clear written justifications and result visualizations.
  • Contribute to technical writing: reports, analysis, design docs, test plans/reports, and (preferably) white papers/proposals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (systems engineers, sensor/mission experts) on end-to-end mission modeling, requirements definition, and reviews; support schedule, risk, and metrics tracking.
  • Maintain version-controlled code (e.g., Git), unit/CI tests where applicable, and documentation of models, datasets, and results.

The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient, a quick learner, and must be able to adapt quickly to evolving technology and priority changes. The candidate will also possess these basic qualifications:

  • Coding: Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Java, or similar; comfortable implementing filters, FFT-based analyses, modem (modulation-demodulation), detection, and other RF concepts.
  • Signal Processing: Familiar with sampling theory, spectral estimation, filtering, synchronization, modulation/demodulation, detection/classification basics.
  • Math: Solid calculus; differential equations/probability & statistics preferred. Able to derive and explain models you implement.
  • SDR & Tools: Experience with GNU Radio and Linux; comfort with test equipment and RF chain components for occasional lab validation.
  • Communication: Clear technical writing and results presentation; ability to explain physics/math code results coherently.
  •  Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to prioritize competing needs.
  • Willingness to grow knowledge of electronic warfare and cyber operations contexts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience with RF environments and wireless communications in contested/EW domains.
  • Knowledge of digital communications protocols and signal conversion techniques.
  • Experience in missile defense, air & missile defense, space systems, or communication systems.
  • Background in design, prototyping, experimentation, and evaluation of ISR and/or cyber technologies.
  • Experience with real-time signal processing and waveform capture/processing of known and unknown emitters.
  • Familiarity with co-channel/wideband interference, multipath, spoofing/countermeasures, and channel/noise modeling.
  • Experience with modeling & simulation of RF environments (channel models, interference, spoofing/CM).
  •  Hands-on tools: GNU Radio, Linux OS, Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar.
  •  Understanding of IEEE/OSI reference models and PDUs.
  • Experience with passive RF and RF-cyber integration.
  • Experience applying ML to signal classification/anomaly detection.
  • Experience with alert prioritization; understanding of indicators of behaviors (IOBs) and alert ontologies.
  • Familiarity with spectral management, narrowband/wideband analysis, PSD/waterfall visualization tools, and UDL data ingestion/alert dissemination.

Desired Certification(s):

  •  Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)
  •  Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Salary: $115,000 - $160,000 annually

Actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and years of experience.
