Reports To: Program Manager
Work Location: Vary depending on clients and department needs- Working typically in afternoon and early evening hours
Compensation: $19.50 - $22.50 per hour - DOE
Schedule: 20 - 35 hours per week/ Flexible schedule, can vary depending on department needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Seeking an individual to provide individualized vocational training to consumers (adults with varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities) and organize all aspects of job site placements under supervision.

Essential Duties
  • Assist case management staff in the development and implementation of the vocational plan for each consumer. Develop daily work schedules of tasks to be performed by consumers and monitor for quality and completion. Circulate in consumers’ work area at least 80% of workday and maintain detailed and accurate records/progress notes on consumer work habits, skills, behaviors, etc.
  • Act as a role model and teach job tasks to consumers and monitor quality control of work performed. Teach consumers good work habits and skills necessary to succeed on the job such as the importance of punctuality, good attendance, following instructions, communication, getting along with co-workers and supervisors, social and interpersonal skills, and self care skills (hygiene and grooming), etc.
  • Teach independent living skills related to work. This may include travel training (use of public transportation), basic money management (counting money, receiving change), self-advocacy (communicating needs, wants & desires), etc. In consultation with supervisor handle job site complaints and problems. May transport and/or accompany consumers on public transportation.
  • Develop working knowledge about job site company policies, work duties and responsibilities. Ensure quality control standards of job site contract specifications are maintained. Ensure that all machinery (vacuum cleaner, extension cords, copiers, etc.) are in safe operating condition prior to use and that all safety guards (wet floor signs, etc.) are in place as needed. Correct and/or report unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent,
Experience: One year teaching/coaching/instructing individuals (preferably adults) with developmental, learning, emotional or physical disabilities in a direct client service position.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to perform various job tasks i.e. janitorial, food service, and clerical in order to demonstrate for consumers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to schedule changes.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Driving is an essential function of this position.  Proof of valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, evidence of state-mandated car insurance, and insurable driving record are required.  While driving for work, should a need arise, the employee’s insurance is deemed primary and ECF’s coverage is secondary.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Material Safety Data Sheets may be required depending on job site requirements.

Work Environment

This is a program for adults who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Employee may encounter consumers who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress or behaving in an aggressive manner. Work environment varies by work site. Work sites include supermarkets, offices, industrial kitchens, landscaping of industrial building grounds, janitorial services in industrial buildings, etc. Assignments are based on program need and involve multiple jobsites (individual placement). Individual placements require employee to spend up to 40% of work shift driving.

·    Vision to read printed materials and computer screen.
·    Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
·   Modeling tasks (hand on hand training), extensive bending, pushing, pulling, reaching (including overhead reaching), and ability to  circulate in work area to teach, monitor and perform quality assurance duties.
·    Push consumers in wheelchairs and assist non-ambulatory consumers with transferring to and from wheelchairs with assistance.
·    May require extensive walking, and going up/down stairs, and lifting of supplies/equipment.
·    Lift/move/push/pull up to 50 pounds (floor scrubber/unloading equipment from trucks, etc.) with assistance.
·    Ability to operate automobile depending on job site and program needs.
