A top client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for supervising staff, managing core accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls, and driving process improvements across the finance function. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting month-end and year-end close processes, collaborating with auditors, and partnering across departments to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, proven leadership skills, and experience gained at a Big 4 or super-regional audit firm.
As the Senior Accountant, you are responsible for:
Team Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise, train, and mentor staff accountants, AP/AR clerks, and other team members (including outside party support).
- Assign tasks, review work for accuracy, and provide constructive performance feedback.
- Foster a collaborative environment with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
Accounting Operations
- Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger postings, and reconciliations.
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to internal controls for all financial transactions.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Month-End / Year-End Close & Reporting
- Lead and collaborate on the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
- Support internal and external audit requirements, including coordination with auditors.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain and improve internal control procedures.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance automation.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to optimize ERP and accounting software functionality.
- Support cross-functional initiatives related to finance, operations, and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Prior Big 4 or super-regional audit firm experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite experience preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ideally located in Brooklyn, but will consider other markets.

- Pay Range
- $90,000.00 Annually to $110,000.00 Annually
