Network Engineer (Cisco ACI & SD-WAN)
Location: Hybrid (Pensacola, Vienna or Winchester, VA)
Position Summary
Join our client's team as a Mid-Level Network Engineer, responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network solutions with a focus on Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) and Cisco SD-WAN technologies. You'll work hands-on with Cisco networking hardware/software, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate across teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Cisco ACI and Cisco SD-WAN solutions in data center and branch environments.
- Support network refresh and migration projects, including staging, equipment shipping, and on-site coordination.
- Monitor network performance, analyze issues, and proactively resolve problems to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver on business and technical requirements.
- Document network configurations, changes, and procedures for operational teams.
- Participate in change management processes and track requests through ticketing systems.
- Contribute to automation initiatives using tools such as Ansible and Python.
- Provide technical support and training to end users and junior staff.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–6 years of experience as a Network Engineer in a Cisco environment (with a relevant degree; 6–8 years without a degree).
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and SD-WAN technologies (configuration, deployment, and support).
- Strong understanding of Cisco ACI architecture, policies, and integration.
- Familiarity with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), VLANs, and network segmentation.
- Experience with network troubleshooting methodology and performance monitoring.
- Exposure to automation tools (Ansible, Python) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Experience with ticketing/change request processes in enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco certifications: CCNA (required), CCNP (preferred).
- Experience with cloud networking and hybrid environments.
- Familiarity with Agile project methodologies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (preferred).
