The Dawes Arboretum is actively recruiting a Guest Services Assistant Manager to join our People & Culture branch.
This full-time, exempt-level position will be responsible for supporting the Guest Services Manager in the daily operation of The Arboretum’s Gift Shop and ensuring Guest Services staffing and scheduling are functioning optimally.
Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:· Support the daily operations of Guest Services and the Gift Shop by collaborating across departments to ensure alignment with The Arboretum’s mission and overall guest experience strategies.
· Assist with the development and implementation of Guest Services policies, procedures, and training initiatives that highlight consistent service standards and a positive guest experience.
· Provide day-to-day support, coaching and mentorship to Guest Services Representatives; Assist Guest Services Manager with recruitment, training and performance feedback.
· Create and manage the scheduling of Guest Services staff for designated shifts and special events. Participate in the regular Guest Services schedule rotation and provide coverage in the absence of staff members as needed.
· Assist with the planning of the annual budget for the Gift Shop and Guest Services team.
· Coordinate the purchase of gift shop merchandise while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring alignment with the mission, brand or special events of The Arboretum. Lead the annual inventory of the Gift Shop.
· Receive gift shop inventory, enter product into system, price/tag and display merchandise to maximize sales.
· Backfill gift shop merchandise inventory to include straightening and ensuring overall cleanliness of Gift Shop.
· Contribute to revenue goals by supporting the Guest Services Manager in monitoring sales performance, ensuring accurate financial transactions, and assisting with routine reporting and record-keeping.
· Establish and maintain vendor accounts. Submit invoices for purchases to Accounts Payable
· Manage and monitor maps, pamphlets and office supply inventories for both the Gatehouse and Gift Shop. Prepare and manage promotional materials and displays needed for the Gift Shop.
· Monitor customer satisfaction and handle escalated customer complaints.

- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Minimum of two years’ experience in retail, guest services or supervisory roles; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal).
- Keen attention to detail with exemplary time management and organizational skills.
- Proven orientation toward quality customer service.
- Ability to work evening, weekend and holiday hours.
- Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

The annual salary range for this position is $40,000-$43,000.
