About the Role

The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is a strategic leader who drives a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and sustainable operational excellence. In this hands-on leadership role, you will take ownership of building proactive safety systems, reducing risk, and ensuring compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.

You will collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to integrate safety into every process and ensure incident prevention and continuous improvement are embedded in daily operations. The role combines coaching, problem-solving, and long-term program development to deliver best-in-class safety performance.

Key responsibilities include leading illness and injury prevention programs, strengthening building and chemical safety protocols, and overseeing safety training and facility inspections to maintain compliance and drive operational excellence.

 

Key Deliverables

·         Champion a Safety-First and Continuous Improvement culture focused on preventing incidents and reducing risk.

·         Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to identify opportunities for process improvement, ergonomic enhancements, and hazard elimination.

·         Lead and participate in Kaizen, root cause analysis, and corrective action initiatives related to safety and environmental performance.

·         Review and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and systems to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

·         Develop and implement inspection policies, procedures, and schedules for routine facility inspections.

·         Design and deliver impactful training programs that build ownership of safety across all levels of the organization.

·         Prepare and schedule training covering emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other critical topics.

·         Monitor compliance with safety procedures and recommend or implement corrective actions as needed

 

Key Activities & Responsibilities

·         Design, implement, and maintain company policies in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. Stay informed of regulatory changes and update company policies accordingly.

·         Prepare, maintain, and update safety and environmental policy and procedure manuals.

·         Deliver training to employees on policies, procedures, and regulations related to workplace safety and hazard protection.

·         Complete and submit all required federal, state, and local environmental reports and chemical inventories on time, including fee payments.

·         Identify chemical hazards and other workplace risks; implement corrective actions to eliminate, contain, or remove hazards.

·         Provide input on the design and development of facilities, work areas, and procedures to ensure EHS best practices are incorporated.

·         Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies, insurance representatives, and workers’ compensation providers.

·         Conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

·         Maintain accurate safety and environmental training records, ensuring OSHA and regulatory compliance.

·         Prepare and distribute reports, including monthly inspection summaries, and follow up on corrective actions.

·         Provide support and perform other duties as assigned to advance the company’s safety and environmental objectives.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

·         Bachelor’s degree preferred.

·         1–5+ years of experience in a technical role within a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated knowledge in EH&S programs preferred; or a combination of education, training, and experience providing equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical and employee information.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, solve problems, and manage workload independently under pressure.

·         Exceptional oral and written skills; resourceful, well-organized, and detail-oriented.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

·         Comprehensive understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and best practices.

Office

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment.  Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing.
