Job Title: STEM Educator
Department: GSLE (Girl Scout Leadership Experience)
Reports To: Director-Level or higher

Position Summary:
The STEM Educator is responsible for building a comprehensive strategic approach for all STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs for the council -- developing and delivering innovative, girl-led programs that align with GSUSA pillars, council strategy, and community needs. Incorporates current STEM trends (robotics, coding, environmental science, space, biotech), the National Girl Scout STEM Badge Portfolio, and grant deliverables.
The STEM Educator oversees and deploys the mobile Girl Scout Lab vehicle, ensuring its integration into membership programs and targeted urban and rural communities across central and southern NJ, especially in areas with limited access to STEM enrichment.
Essential Job Duties:
Program Leadership
- Develop, implement, and evaluate engaging STEM programs as part of a STEM Expansion Project that reflects current industry trends and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience
- Maintain an annual program calendar ensuring the Girl Scout Mobile Lab delivers:
- Multiple mobile STEM programs to schools, community organizations, troops and groups throughout the council foot print each month to meet participation targets
- One general membership/recruitment program per month
- At least one program to every community outreach troop annually or more as needed to meet grant requirements
- Program-on-demand opportunities available council-wide
- Collaborate with Program, Membership, and Dream Lab/Service Centers teams to integrate STEM programming into program, recruitment, and retention strategies
Girl Scout Mobile Lab Oversight
- Manage scheduling, operations, and maintenance of the Girl Scout Mobile Lab vehicle
- Research and purchase state-of-art equipment, such as 3D printers, robotics kits, digital microscopes, coding tools, and more to meet program interests
- Ensure safe transport, setup, and operation of mobile program equipment
- Curate activities for quick, high-impact engagement at community events and in-depth learning at membership programs
Partnership & Outreach
- Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and STEM industry leaders to expand program reach
- Pursue and secure grant and sponsorship opportunities to sustain STEM programming and Girl Scout Mobile Lab operations in partnership with Fund Development Department
- Represent the council at STEM-related community events and professional networks
Volunteer & Staff Support
- Develop facilitator guides and training modules for volunteers and staff to deliver STEM programs
- Provide coaching and mentorship to older Girl Scouts (Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors) to co-lead STEM activities
- Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions to STEM initiatives
Equity & Impact
- Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and delivered across diverse communities with a focus on areas with limited access to STEM enrichment
- Collect data and prepare reports on participation, demographics, outcomes, and program impact
- Contribute to annual benchmarks and council strategic goals
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
- 3–5 years of experience developing curriculum, learning outcomes, and lesson plans
- Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Experience in leading/coordinating staff, interns and/or volunteers
- Ability to set and achieve measurable benchmarks
- Demonstrate ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines
- Business technology expertise - strong user computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong social media skills and knowledge. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies with ability to understand the basic data quality principles and practice

- Valid New Jersey vehicle license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across council geography
- Ability to lift, carry and transport at least 35 pounds.
- Availability to work flexible schedule including frequent evenings and weekends
COMPENSATION:
- Full Time Exempt Position. Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000
