The Role
The Senior Manager of Camps & Immersives ensures that the Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) network of camps and immersive experiences operates with excellence, alignment, and impact. This role blends strategic coordination, operational mastery, and project management with a passion for innovation and connection. Reporting to the VP of Camps & Immersives, the Senior Manager translates vision into action by keeping systems running smoothly, supporting alignment across teams, and helping bold ideas come to life for campers, participants, and leaders across the URJ network. Through thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and strong operational instincts, this person helps create the conditions where our programs, people, and participants can thrive.
What You Will Do
Team Leadership & Operations
Partner with the VP of Camps & Immersives to coordinate daily operations, manage team communication, strengthen organizational integration, and provide strategic and administrative support for meetings with staff and lay leaders.
Collaborate with Camp Leaders to align projects, communication, and systems that support excellence and consistency across the network.
Manage shared systems and logistics (CampMinder, Camps & Immersives Service Center site, staff cohorts, documentation, and resource-sharing) to promote efficiency, transparency, and access.
Own and coordinate the CampMinder database and related processes to ensure data integrity, efficiency, and consistent usage across all camps and immersives teams.
Own and maintain the annual operational calendar for Camps & Immersives, mapping who collaborates with whom, when, and how to create clarity and alignment across the year.
Track progress toward strategic goals, prioritize initiatives, and identify opportunities to improve workflows, clarity, and efficiency.
Respond with agility to shifting priorities and provide operational support during critical or time-sensitive moments.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and alignment with the URJ’s core commitments.
Collaboration & Integration
Strengthen collaboration within and across departments to ensure programs and priorities reflect the URJ’s mission, 6 pillars, and core commitments.
Serve as a bridge between central operations and camps and immersives teams to ensure consistent communication, alignment, and follow-through on strategic initiatives.
Function as a central connector and project manager across Centers of Expertise and Flagships, facilitating clear communication, aligned priorities, and strong partnership. Partner with:
Program Strategy team to spearhead the annual planning process for Camps & Immersives.
Marketing & Communications to shape messaging, campaigns, and internal communications that support recruitment and engagement goals.
Risk Management and Camp Leaders to ensure safety, security, and compliance standards are met.
People & Culture to support recruitment and hiring of seasonal staff.
Data & Tech team to ensure smooth delivery of IT and business systems for all camps and immersive programs.
Development team to coordinate all non-Israel related Camp grants.
Justice and Movement Building teams to ensure strong partnership, alignment, and integration of shared priorities to advance collective impact.
Build and maintain strong relationships with partners such as FJC and JCamp180, serving as the primary point of contact over time.
Growth & Innovation
Serve as a strategic partner to the Growth & Innovation team to pilot and scale new initiatives that strengthen the reach and impact of URJ’s immersive experiences.
Collaborate with program leaders across the URJ to design and implement initiatives that expand access, deepen engagement, and align with organizational priorities.
Research and apply emerging trends and best practices in youth engagement, immersive learning, and experiential education to continually enhance the URJ’s offerings.
Cultivate a mindset of learning and experimentation across the team — encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and courageous ideas that lead to meaningful change.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, education, youth development, or related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience in program operations, project management, or immersive learning environments.
Proven experience in program operations, project management, or similar roles, ideally within youth, camp, or immersive education settings.
Familiarity with CampMinder, including data management and operational workflows.
Understanding of organizational systems, cross-team collaboration, and process improvement.
Knowledge of compliance, safety, and risk management in programmatic contexts is a plus.
