Job Summary:
The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational and financial performance of a designated market area, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategic objectives. This role leads and motivates a team of managers and staff to maximize profitability and maintain a high-performance, result-driven culture. The Area Manager ensures efficient operations, enforces company policies, and provides key insights and reporting to senior leadership. This position plays a critical role in developing operational infrastructure, forecasting budgets, managing expenditures, and fostering continuous improvement across departments. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):• Drive the market area to achieve profitability, business goals, and objectives.
• Ensure measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes; provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the market area.
• Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.
• Provide regular reports and analysis of financial, operational, team performance, and industry trend metrics to executive team.
• Review reports submitted by staff members to recommend approval or to suggest changes.
• Appoint department heads or managers and assign or delegate responsibilities to them.
• Collaborate with management to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization.
• Motivate and lead a high-performance management team: communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and measuring job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.
• Maintain a safe, engaging, creative, and professionally rewarding work environment; provide personal growth opportunities for staff.
• Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the Company.
• Hold monthly or quarterly one-on-one meetings with department managers to establish and review progress of goals and objectives (including continuous training) and hold accountable.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for all problems that arise within the market area.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards and safety rules.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of construction and/or engineering experience.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience.
• Ability to manage teams in multiple states.
• Excellent conflict resolution skills and demonstrated experience in directing and motivating multi-level talent.
• Experience conducting end to end project management of large telecommunications projects; able to provide technical and analytical guidance to a project team.
• Experience managing Outside Plant and Inside Plant projects.
• Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy.
• Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Superior time management skills.
• Extremely organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
• Critical thinking skills; make assessments and provide solutions to problems.
• Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients.
• Superior customer service. Dedication to providing customers “White Glove Service”.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:Physical Demands:• While this position is not physically labor-intensive, it requires regular movement around active construction sites.
• Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate uneven terrain, job sites, or partially developed areas for extended periods.
• Occasional bending, climbing temporary stairways or ladders, or accessing elevated workspaces may be required to observe work progress.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment (typically under 25 pounds) for site reviews or inspections.
• Frequent use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment when performing administrative tasks.
Work Environment:
• Work is performed in a combination of field and office environments, with approximately 60–80% of time spent on job sites and the remainder in an office or mobile office setting.
• Regular exposure to outdoor elements including varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and construction-related hazards.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, vests, and steel-toe boots is required on job sites.
• Travel within the assigned region is required to visit projects, attend meetings, or manage personnel across multiple locations.
• Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on project deadlines or operational needs.
