Longenecker & Associates (L&A) seeks a Work Control Planner III to contribute to our mission supporting our work at Los Alamos National Lab in Los Alamos, NM.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Develops and/or reviews work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.

The preferred candidate will have the following experience:

  • Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
  • Experience interpreting various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.
  • Knowledge of work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, construction and/or various maintenance disciplines.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning.
  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work planning activities.
  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports. 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience with BS Degree or 12+ years of experience without,
  • Ability to obtain a Q Clearance if needed,
  • Software knowledge – Asset Suites, Mobile Work Package (MWP), and Microsoft Word,
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening,
  • Ability to fulfill L&A Core Values.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in mechanical, civil, or radiological engineering,
  • Experience with construction documents, reading blueprints, and schematics,
  • Ability to conceptually communicate major elements to both technical and non-technical personnel,
  • Current Q Clearance, 
  • PPA Certification.

 

LOCATION 

  • Los Alamos, NM – Onsite work at TA-00
  • Per-diem available 
  • Duration of the Contract – Initial two years with possibility of extension and/or conversion,
  • Work Schedule – 4/10s with potential for overtime
