The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional clinical care while supporting physicians throughout the patient experience, from the initial consultation through post-operative recovery. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced plastic surgery practice while delivering an outstanding patient experience.


Position Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities

·         Prepare patient rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, fully stocked, and ready for patient care.

·         Welcome patients in a warm, professional manner, creating an environment where they feel comfortable, safe, valued, and prioritized throughout their visit.

·         Assist physicians during patient consultations, examinations, cosmetic injections, and in-office procedures.

·         Support physicians during aesthetic and surgical consultations by providing clinical education, reinforcing treatment recommendations, and answering patient questions.

·         Build rapport with patients and help guide them through the decision-making process for surgical procedures while maintaining a patient-centered approach.

·         Possess a thorough knowledge of the practice, available surgical and non-surgical procedures, and each physician's specialties and treatment philosophy.

·         Ability to confidently discuss treatment options, educate patients on procedures, and support practice growth through exceptional patient communication and relationship building.

·         Perform comprehensive pre-operative appointments, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, EKGs, phlebotomy, clinical photographs, and any required diagnostic testing.

·         Review surgical consents with patients, ensuring all documentation is complete and patient questions are addressed.

·         Provide thorough pre-operative and post-operative education, including medication instructions, activity restrictions, wound care, and recovery expectations.

·         Assist physicians with post-operative evaluations, wound care, dressing changes, suture removal, and follow-up visits.

·         Coordinate and manage medical clearances, laboratory testing, diagnostic studies, and other pre-surgical requirements.

·         Monitor outstanding medical clearances and diagnostic results to ensure patients are appropriately prepared for surgery.

·         Return patient phone calls and portal messages regarding clinical questions, providing education and appropriately triaging concerns to the physician when necessary.

·         Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed documentation within the electronic medical record.

·         Collaborate with physicians, surgical coordinators, and the clinical team to promote efficient patient flow and deliver exceptional patient care.

·         Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, discretion, and outstanding customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.

·         Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed to ensure seamless clinic operations.



Requirements:

Education & Licensure
•    Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) license
•    Current BLS/CPR certification required 

Experience
•    1–3 years of clinical experience preferred 
•    Experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, aesthetics, or outpatient surgical settings strongly preferred
