POSITION SUMMARY
Metal Additive Manufacturing Technicians will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of 3D LBPF metal printers, including CAD model review and build preparation.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES
Principal responsibilities for the position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.- Full operation of 3D metal printers. Includes unload, material handling, setup, maintenance, and general troubleshooting.
- CAD model review, orientation, support application and slicing for 3D metal printer builds via desktop computer.
- Reviewing CAD model drawings and processing requirements to create device records.
- Full operation of small-size, above-ground vacuum heat treat furnaces and associated outdoor heat exchangers. Includes loading and unloading of build plates, maintenance, and general troubleshooting.
- Aid in device post-processing steps done on common shop equipment (micro-blasters, grinding/cutting wheels, files and similar hand tools).
- Aid in testing of verification samples on hydraulic and electronic test frames. Support R&D engineers during testing of devices for other purposes.
- Follow all appropriate safety precautions, including usage of PPE and maintaining lab cleanliness.
- Visual inspection of manufactured goods as part of quality-controlled process.
REQUIRED EDUCATION- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE- Sustained attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a regulated industry, including adherence to proper documentation and good quality practices.
- Ability to understand and follow comprehensive work instructions, guidance documents, and written protocols.
- Ability to routinely lift 35-50lbs during a shift.
- Ability to stand and walk for 4+ hours during a shift.
- Strong visualization skills.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Some college preferred.
- Preference given to technical training and degree work.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications (including Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
- Experience working in a machine shop environment, including but not limited to experience with hazardous materials, heavy machinery, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
MATERIALS HANDLING / EXPOSURE
Position will regularly involve handling of ultra-fine, medical grade Ti-6Al-4V & Co28Cr6Mo powder. Position will regularly involve operating equipment that utilizes argon. May involve handling of other raw materials and waste materials applicable to the manufacture of medical devices.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Position requires the ability to intermittently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to operate equipment while wearing a full-face respirator, protective clothing, eye protection, and/or hearing protection. Position may require extended periods of standing, extensive work with the operator’s hands and tools, as well as occasional squatting, kneeling, and working with a stepstool or ladder.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include standard office and laboratory conditions as well as conditions of a machine shop. Machine shop conditions may include reduced lighting, increased noise, dust, and elevated temperatures.
