    The Supervisor, Phlebotomy Services:

    • The Phlebotomy Services Supervisor is responsible for supervision of staff and oversees the work activities of specimen procurement, processing, technical and clerical duties of the Phlebotomy Services Department at HUH
    • Assures all staff is up-to-date in training and proficient in daily job function and that expenditures remain within budget as outlined by management. Responsible for hiring of staff and sustaining proficiency in technical and customer service skills to meet goals as established by HUH Leadership.
    • Organizes, directs and supervises Phlebotomy Services functions including registration, order entry, specimen procurement, specimen processing, specimen testing, answering telephones, typing/transcribing various materials, making and distributing photocopies, filing and maintaining all pathology and clinical laboratory files, and calling for maintenance and repair of equipment
    • Trains new Phlebotomy staff, including program development and revision, orientation, direction, documentation, evaluation and remediation
    • Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Performs work of a similar nature
    • Develops, prepares, and recommends to the Laboratory Manager, annual budgetary expenditures and interim budget requests
    Qualified candidates will possess:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry or other related degree.  Will consider 10 years of supervisory experience and Certification as a Phlebotomy Instructor in lieu of degree
    • Five or more years of phlebotomy experience
    • Three or more years’ experience supervising phlebotomy services staff
    • Certified Phlebotomy Instructor, through the National Phlebotomy Association or other nationally recognized Association desirable
    • American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) certified preferred
    • Certification in Lean Six Sigma highly desirable
