     The Prenatal Testing Center Manager:

    The Nurse Manager will provide collaborative leadership for the process of planning, directing, integrating and coordinating activities to achieve departmental objectives and maintain high quality services. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for personnel management, budget planning and monitoring, scheduling, systems improvement, compliance with regulatory requirements and strategic planning. 

    • Oversee day-to-day Prenatal Testing Center activities.  Schedule, supervise, and coordinate the clinical Staff ensuring adequate clinical staffing and optimal patient flow.
    • ​​​​​Prepares, monitors, and controls the unit (s) operating budget, operates within established budget. 
    • Maintain all statistical analysis, submitting weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
    • Participates in the hiring, evaluation, and disciplinary process of support staff. Conducts ongoing assessment of individual staff performance and completes performance evaluations within the established time frame.
    • As needed, assist providers with complex procedures, emergencies, or other clinical situations in which a nursing presence is indicated.
    • Responsible for promoting cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care providers. 
    • Participates in the development and implementation of the strategic initiatives for the Prenatal Testing Center.
    • Maintains unit compliance with JCAHO, DCRA, local and Federal regulatory standards.
    • Ensures the availability of support services, supplies and equipment to facilitate patient care.
    • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area.  The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive.
    • Knowledge of management principles as they apply to planning, organizing, directing, delegating, and evaluating.
    • Knowledge of effective and efficient principles and practices of interpersonal relationships.  Adeptness in the application of counseling strategies and inductive and deductive processes in making decisions.
    • Ability to supervise others.


    Qualified candidates will possess:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current DC License. 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. MSN preferred.
    • Five (5) years’ experience and clinical knowledge in perinatal clinical specialty. Two years in a charge nurse/ leadership or equivalent position required.
    • Specialty certification in obstetrics preferred. 
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.
    • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, lift, bend, write, type, file, speak, hear, see, calculate, compare, edit, evaluate, interpret and organize for extended periods of time.
