Founded in 2003, HHS Construction is a leading provider of infrastructure services to major telecommunications and cable providers primarily in Southern California, and adjacent geographies. HHS Construction’s core capabilities include aerial, underground and substructure self-perform construction; ISP services; wireless services including Small Cell/CRAN installation, utility coordination, turn-key RF testing and maintenance; telecom engineering; placement and splicing of copper, coaxial and fiber optic cables; and pole maintenance. Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a reliable and organized Cable Technician to install, maintain, and repair category 5e/6/6A copper cabling and single mode and multimode fiber optic cabling for business clients. Cable Technicians are responsible for installing data and voice cable systems, raceway, conduit, racks, cabinets, cable suspension hardware and other cable related equipment. Duties may include drilling/coring of walls and floors, cable placement and termination, setting ground cables, installing equipment, and troubleshooting any problems with the cable system.

To ensure success as a Cable Technician, you should have a basic knowledge of low voltage systems and cable technology. You should be able to work in cramped spaces, at heights, and interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner. Ultimately the Cable Technician will provide efficient, high-quality services.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure.
  • Performing maintenance on existing cabling systems.
  • Testing newly installed or relocated cables
  • Identifying and removing redundant cabling.
  • Troubleshooting issues with cable network.
  • Installing of cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.
  • Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Previous work experience as a Cable Technician
  • Ability to install voice and data cabling
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Familiarity with cable color codes.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Provide personal minor hand tools (such as screw drivers, wire cutters, punch down tool, etc.)
  • Clean driving and criminal record and ability to pass DOJ background checks for access into government and school facilities.
