Reports to:        VP of Legal and People Operations
Status:                Exempt
Expected Salary: $50,000

Our Legal and People Operations (HR) Department is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated paralegal to assist in the day-to-day operations of both its legal and human resource functions. The successful paralegal will provide assistance to corporate counsel in development and management of internal governance and legal policies, monitoring of compliance with federal, state and local regulations, a variety of contract review and drafting, insurance and bonding, human capital issues and research, and other assigned tasks. This role will also be heavily involved in management and settlement of capital recovery claims and collections.

Previous experience in the telecommunications industry, regulatory, insurance, capital damage recovery, human resources, and settlement negotiations is a plus. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work efficiently and independently and react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround; take effective action, use good judgment and be proactively solve problems. The candidate must also have great attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines and have great organizational skills. It is also essential for the candidate to have a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential and proprietary information, and to have the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside the company.

The right candidate will have the ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and stay organized and assist with performance of a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected from the successful candidate.

The candidate will start the position working remotely but will transition to an in-office position at our new corporate HQ in Orlando, Florida, scheduled to open mid-Q1 2022.

Job Description:
  • Assisting corporate counsel with researching damages to company assets and pursuing monetary recovery from damaging parties or insurance companies through settlement and litigation, as necessary.
  • Assisting corporate counsel in handling regulatory filings at local, state, and federal level.
  • Assisting corporate counsel with a variety of tasks in organizing, reviewing, and providing support for a wide variety of complex sales and vendor contracts, reseller agreements, professional services agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Assisting corporate counsel and sales team with responses to RFPs and complex business proposals.
  • Maintaining and filing corporate records, including resolutions, board of director changes, and annual reports.
  • Coordinating and receiving signatures for various documents and materials.
  • Creating, maintaining, and organizing documents, charts and templates.
  • Providing administrative support for documents and activities related to human resources.
  • Working with other members of the Legal and People Operations Team on special projects and initiatives.
Job Qualifications Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant paralegal experience, contract management, corporate or other comparable experience within a corporate legal department or law firm.  Experience with a telecommunications services provider or similar corporation is a plus.
  • Experience with regulatory obligations pertinent to the telecommunications industry and ability to recognize ERISA, COBRA, antitrust and securities issues when applicable is helpful.
  • Experience with telecommunications regulation, software licensing, and other technology-related contracts is a plus.
  • Excellent ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, skills a must.
  • Must be customer service driven with an upbeat and outgoing personality.
  • Must be proactive with excellent follow-through.
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be located in the Orlando, Florida area, or willing to relocate.
