Job Summary

Participate in the development of proprietary GIS software and related tools. Help to develop new tools, automations, and reports. Provide support for Ad Hoc requests including data exports and imports, data conversions, spatial queries, data automations, etc. Work on refining existing tool set. Interact with engineering department for various needs and support.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Assist with coding of new tools and upgraded user interfaces
  • Provide assistance on data completion and mapping exercises
  • Complete data attribution on large data sets using various sources of truth as reference
  • Provide support for automation tools and process improvement
  • Support various requests including data exports and imports, data conversions, spatial queries, data automations, etc.
  • Work on Ad Hoc reports as needed by Engineering department
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS related major preferred
  • Some knowledge of either JavaScript, Python, C++ programming language
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Strong knowledge of GIS design and implementation
  • Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
  • Superior time management
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities
  • Critical thinking skills; make assessments and provide solutions to problems

Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics preferred.
  • Experience in either the engineering, construction, architecture, or telecommunications industries is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with telecommunications engineering standards.
  • Capable of identifying issues in the field that would have a potential to impact network design.
  • Able to collect necessary data from the field for determining a design including all necessary OSP features.
  • Fiber networking and cable routing.
  • Knowledgeable in GO 95, GO 128 and/or NESC requirements.
  • Experience with interpreting cable or substructure designs.
  • Knowledge and experience with telecommunications construction techniques
  • Able to identify and suggest all types of construction methods within ROW, identify assumed public ROW, visually identify existing utilities.
  • Fiber construction operations/management/provisioning experience.
  • Basic Knowledge of Make-Ready Construction
  • Able to identify potential cable moves and, guying and anchoring requirements to make room for new cable attachments.
  • Able to effectively account for all information that is required to attach to a pole and complete all necessary measurements and photos.
  • Experience in estimating existing utility locations.

  • Capable of handling small GIS query requests and development projects with some oversight
  • Some understanding of how GIS activities relate to end user interface
  • Capable of performing ad-hoc requests for QA or Design services with some explanation and oversight
  • Understands and follows design & quality standards 
  • Requires quality audits for consistency, but should not have basic errors
  • Proficient in attribute and spatial queries in a given GIS system 
  • Capable of handling small GIS query requests and development projects without oversight
  • Has a strong understanding of Python, SQL, and automation techniques and can complete work with minimal oversight
  • Understands how GIS activities relate to end user interface
  • Capable of performing ad-hoc requests for complicated QA or Design services with some explanation and oversight
  • Understands and follows design & quality standards 
  • Requires quality audits for consistency, but should not have basic errors
  • Can communicate in limited scope with the customer
  • Highly proficient and knowledgeable in GIS Design and Coding
  • Able to take a complicated GIS request from conception to deployment without oversight
  • Has a deep understanding of Python, SQL, and spatial query techniques
  • Capable of performing ad-hoc requests for complicated QA or planning services with minimal explanation and oversight
  • Able to define and clarify design and quality standards
  • Does not require quality audits and can communicate directly with the customer

TRAVEL

  • May be required at times for training purposes.

  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to look at a computer screen for long periods of time.
