Role of the Headmaster/President
The Academy of the Holy Names is seeking a change maker to lead our historic school into the next era of building young women into tomorrow’s leaders. Operating under the banner of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and with their tenets as our foundation, AHN is a Catholic, independent school with over 135 years of success in this field. Our reputation for developing young minds and putting these students on a solid path to collegiate and career success is excellent. Our young women are known for their optimistic view of the world, which they communicate with poise and strong self-confidence.
For the right person, this opportunity is unique in offering a leadership position within an established institution thirsting for its next chapter. You will be surrounded by students, faculty, staff, a Board of Trustees and alumnae who are loyal, generous and dedicated to continually enhancing the tremendous legacy that has been built here since 1884.
We seek a proven collaborator who will engage both inside the school community as well as be our face to the broader Capital Region. Working with an extremely engaged and experienced Board of Trustees, you will develop and implement a strategic vision that builds our strong roots out into a bold new direction.
Ours is a school not afraid of change and seeks innovation, creative partnerships, and a leader who understands that we can only inspire risk-taking in our students if we model it ourselves. There are possibilities aplenty to make an impact in both the short and long term. Resources abound, the most important among them our exemplary faculty and staff.
The new President of Academy of the Holy Names will be a visionary and energetic leader who exemplifies the mission of the school, embodies the values of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, and passionately embraces an academically rigorous education for young women.
A critical requirement is an inclusive management style and success working with a team of individuals in the achievement of a common set of mission-driven priorities. The President will inspire collaboration and cooperation from all constituent groups, including parents, alumnae and members of the local community.
The President must be confident and comfortable directing change that will strengthen AHN.
This is a tremendous opportunity—to build something that you can look back on with pride.
The ideal candidate will…
- possess a minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent training;
- demonstrate significant leadership experience in an educational, nonprofit, corporate or civic environment; and
- be a Catholic who embraces the identity and values of AHN and is prepared to be the faith leader of the school.
