Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator, Full Time
Basic Job Functions:
The basic job functions for the EHS Coordinator are, responsible for monitoring operations to eliminate the potential of hazards. Establishes and enforces policies to promote safety and health awareness. Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards. Recommends corrective or preventative measures to promote and create a healthy and safe workplace.
Essential Functions of the Job:- Lead the Plant Safety Committee.
- Train others in the organization to be contributing members of the safety committee.
- Conduct routine safety inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
- Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace environment.
- Suggest safety measures to reduce or eliminate safety risks.
- Assist the plant in maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Plan, develop and execute EHS training.
- Lead incident investigations and learning reviews.
- Promote near miss reporting.
- Assist the plant to manage EHS action items.
- Track all plant incidents and perform analysis to determine trends and actions to address.
- Assist with the behavior-based safety (BBS) program, and actively identify hazards and unsafe behaviors.
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
- Manage plant EHS programs as needed (Lockout-tagout, respiratory protection, mobile equipment, etc.)
- Help to identify, implement, and monitor new EHS efforts.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements of the Job:- Driven and determined to prevent injuries.
- Diligent with an analytical mind.
- Previous experience in manufacturing of personal care, over the counter, or medical device industries preferred.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA standards, program development, implementation, training programs, and practices.
- Able to effectively use a computer in a business setting (i.e., Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Strong communication and advisory skills.
Physical Requirements:- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes, or alarms).
- Capable of walking, standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time
- Capable of climbing steps and ladders
- Capable of bending, stooping
- Able to properly lift 25 pounds.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Travel: Occasional local travel
Education and/or Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, engineering, or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing of personal care, over the counter, or medical device industries preferred.
- Prior work experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role.
- 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
