Role Overview 

As the Construction Engineer, you will be track job site management and work closely with the Construction Manager on the constructability, procurement, administrative, and technical aspects of site construction for six to twelve production lines.  

 

This role reports to Nexus Circular’s Construction Manager. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and direct construction team by providing communication, coordination, and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives; ensure project scope or work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood.  This includes site modifications and construction of multiple process lines. 

  • Supervise construction at the McDonough facility day-to-day with the construction team.   

  • Coordinate with the Project Management group. 

  • Manage and oversee the output from the engineering, constructability, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams from detail design through commission and start up. 

  • Establish construction procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering work; determine and oversee all construction controls, schedules and budgets. 

  • Serve as construction representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence. 

  • Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure construction procedures are followed. 

  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in construction scope, budget and/or schedule. 

  • Ensure all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements. 

  • Leadership and management skills that include fostering teamwork, motivating team members, and resolving conflicts (if any).   

  •  

  • Collaborate with the construction team to facilitate effective communication, coordination, and follow-up, ensuring project objectives are met within scope, schedule, and budget constraints. This includes overseeing site modifications and the construction of various process lines. 

  • Track and support day-to-day construction activities at the McDonough facility in conjunction with the construction team. 

  • Coordinate closely with the Project Management, Engineering and Lean Manufacturing group to ensure seamless project execution. 

  • Oversee outputs from engineering, constructability, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams, from detailed design through commissioning and startup. 

  • Develop construction procedures aligned with contractual agreements and quality plans, while establishing controls, schedules, and budgets. 

  • Serve as the construction representative in interactions with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors during meetings and correspondence. 

  • Ensure adherence to construction procedures through training and compliance measures. 

  • Secure necessary approvals for changes in construction scope, budget, or schedule. 

  • Ensure all work adheres to industry standards, engineering best practices, relevant codes, and legal requirements. 

  • Demonstrate leadership by fostering teamwork, motivating team members, and addressing conflicts if they arise. 

  • Track change orders, schedule and budget changes. 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in any discipline from a four-year college or university 

  • At least 5-7 years’ related experience and/or training, in industry 

  • At least 5-7 years’ experience with direct project oversight on construction related projects where the work was self-performed by your current employer at the time. 

  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, P6, Wrike, Teams, and Onedrive.  Other software will be used as well. 

  • To be on site at the facility in McDonough, Georgia daily.  A limited amount of remote work is possible, but the expectation should be to be on site.

Most recently, Jodie served as the CEO of GreenMantra Technologies, a privately-held early- stage advanced recycler of waste plastics to specialty waxes. Previously, she was President of Pinova, a PE-backed manufacturer of specialty chemicals from renewable resources.

Currently, she serves on the boards of NanoXplore (TSX) and Bartek Ingredients (PE backed) and is active with The National Association of Corporate Directors and The Women Corporate Directors.

Jodie earned degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and holds an MBA in Finance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
