JOB SUMMARY
At MMT - SYNEO TX, our objective is to develop excellence in automation, machine design, material handling, and custom tooling. Each position contributes to the success of the company through accountability, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented mindset. The Machinist I is responsible for machine set-up, operation, and maintenance, ensuring accuracy and quality of all products manufactured.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Job Functions:
The Machinist I will provide reliable and timely support as follows:
 
  • Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.
  • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
  • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
  • Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
  • Maintains inventory of completed products.
  • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate and prioritize job assignments.
  • Maintain documentation.
  • Process product based on knowledge of products and current specifications.
  • Continuous review of manufacturing specifications, prints and job notes; write process changes when necessary to update specifications.
  • Make sure paperwork is correct and products are being processed correctly.
  • Willingness to participate in all Punch Shop and Machine Shop activities.
  • Follow through with all assignments.
  • Participate in R&D and product design projects as needed.
  • Machine set-up.
  • Review and maintain stock levels of all required tooling (drills, inserts, etc.)
  • Program editing.
  • Machine operation.
  • Maintain proper set-up sheet library.
  • Assist in testing new products and procedures.
  • Maintain CNC machines on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the manufacturing of machine parts.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • All other duties as needed to assist the company in attaining its objectives.

SKILLS
  • Strong attention to detail and well-developed motor skills a must.
  • Ability to initiate work tasks and see projects through to completion, per specification and on-time.
  • Must have a CAN-DO attitude to drive projects through to completion, displaying the ability to learn and work within a team to meet department objectives.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Able to function in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EXPERIENCE – 1-2 years of related experience. Prior machining experience preferred.
  • EDUCATION – High School Diploma or equivalent required. Machining coursework or certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires that a person stand for extended periods of time in front of a machine, bending and turning into the machines. Lifting up to 50lbs in materials is necessary on occasion.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is carried out in a machine shop which is indoors but on occasion can be an open-air environment. This position will require the ability to work under pressing conditions with a professional and responsive demeanor.
