HHS Construction, LLC a Congruex Company Founded in 2003, HHS Construction is a leading provider of infrastructure services to major telecommunications and cable providers primarily in Southern California, and adjacent geographies. HHS Construction’s core capabilities include aerial, underground and substructure self-perform construction; ISP services; wireless services including Small Cell/CRAN installation, utility coordination, turn-key RF testing and maintenance; telecom engineering; placement and splicing of copper, coaxial and fiber optic cables; and pole maintenance. Job Summary: HHS Construction, LLC. is searching for experienced Fiber Splicers to splice and activate fiber cable. Primary responsibilities include ability to splice/test/repair cables/wires in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create, and maintain splicing diagrams, maintain activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and take splicing field notes.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Travels to and from job sites
Ability to fusion splice SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, to include or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC)
Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable
Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues
Reviews, interprets, and works with various maps, drawings and blueprints and testing documents.
Performs daily tests, checks and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
Performs optical continuity and conformance testing
Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations
Adheres to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles.
Minimum of 1 year experience required in prepping and splicing ribbon fiber sized up to 864 fibers.
Minimum 1 year of experience prepping and splicing loose tube fiber, all sizes.
Minimum 1 year of experience installing, maintaining/repairing, and testing fiber optic networks, including bi-directional tests
Previous underground utility experience
Technical
Working knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment including, Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo, and Viavi.
Basic understanding of Outlook, Excel and Word
Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.)
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet, and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
Ability to work at various job sites as required
Ability to report to work on time and as scheduled
Ability to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call
