The Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Marketing, Audience Engagement & Sales team seeks a Director of Strategic Communications. The Director of Strategic Communications will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and Religious Action Center (RAC) communications strategy. The portfolio will focus on strategic planning, content strategy, storytelling, writing and communication, and oversight of the PR and editorial team. 

The Director of Strategic Communication reports to the Assistant VP, Marketing, Audience Engagement, & Sales Management and is responsible for: 
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic communication plans that support organizational objectives, enhance brand reputation, and help the URJ be a distinct and relevant voice across audiences. Monitor industry trends, public sentiment, and emerging issues to proactively address communication challenges and opportunities. Collaborate with leadership to provide strategic communication counsel and support decision-making processes.
• Content Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key messages, themes, and content opportunities. Oversee the creation and maintenance of high-quality, engaging, and consistent content across all URJ digital channels.
• Storytelling: Craft compelling narratives that effectively communicate the URJ and RAC mission, values, and key messages. Lead the development of storytelling frameworks to enhance the brand identity and develop compelling content to resonate with target audiences. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine stories that showcase impact and success.
• Writing and Communication: Produce clear, concise, and persuasive written materials. Lead organizational-wide communications and provide thought leadership on executive messaging. Lead the website content strategy.  Ensure content is of high quality, aligned with organizational messaging, and relevant. Collaborate with the social media team to develop and implement strategic communication plans, ensuring cohesive and effective messaging across all platforms.
• Oversee PR and Editorial Team: Lead and facilitate regular meetings with Public Relations, Content Strategy, and Editors to ensure collaboration within the team and across the organization. 

To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas:
• Strategic Thinking & Content. Strategic thinker with strong writing and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in content strategy and storytelling with large-scale impact and reach across North America. 
• REDI Experience (Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion). Demonstrated experience prioritizing and executing Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (i.e., ableism, LGBTQIA+ Inclusion, antiracism, etc.) priorities. Demonstrated commitment developing content that appeals to and reflects diverse audiences, including People of Color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and other underrepresented voices. Open-minded and committed to honest conversations and self-reflection about race, racial justice, and equity.  
• Storytelling. Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt style to various audiences and communication channels. Experience in communication strategy and planning for current events and crisis management.  
• Leadership. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead a high-performing communications team. Experience in a leadership role managing communications for an organization. Skilled communicator and people manager who can strategize, plan, and delegate effectively. Ability to listen, discern challenges, and identify solutions. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
