Role Overview

We are currently seeking dedicated and environmentally conscious individuals to join our team as Sorters in our advanced recycling plant. As a sorter, you will play a crucial role in the efficient sorting and processing of recyclable materials. Your attention to detail and commitment to environmental sustainability will contribute to the success of our recycling operations.  The shift will be 6:30pm-6:30am on a 3-2-2 rotation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sort and separate recyclable plastic according to established guidelines or categories.
  • Inspect items for contamination or non-recyclable components and remove them from the sorting line.
  • Identify and sort different types of recyclable materials based on their characteristics, such as size, shape, color, or composition.
  • Operate sorting equipment, such as conveyor belts, screens, optical sorters, or manual sorting stations, to streamline the sorting process.
  • Monitor and adjust sorting equipment as needed, reporting any malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintain accuracy and productivity throughout the sorting process, meeting or exceeding daily sorting targets or quotas.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and communicate any relevant information or updates.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, promoting a safe and clutter-free environment.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulations, including those related to privacy, security, and ethical conduct.
  • Keep up to date with recycling regulations, standards, or best practices, and apply them to the sorting process.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and sort different types of recyclable materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently, demonstrating a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Additional Skills:
  • Previous experience in recycling or waste management is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry or record-keeping purposes.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures related to the handling and sorting of recyclable materials.​​​​​​
  • Environmental awareness and a commitment to promoting sustainability and waste reduction.

Jodie brings over 30 years of manufacturing leadership experience, having built and led 5 companies as CEO/President and 3 of those companies with an ESG focus.

Most recently, Jodie served as the CEO of GreenMantra Technologies, a privately-held early- stage advanced recycler of waste plastics to specialty waxes. Previously, she was President of Pinova, a PE-backed manufacturer of specialty chemicals from renewable resources.

Currently, she serves on the boards of NanoXplore (TSX) and Bartek Ingredients (PE backed) and is active with The National Association of Corporate Directors and The Women Corporate Directors.

Jodie earned degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and holds an MBA in Finance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
