Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team and support the development of engineering and construction packages for facility expansion and buildouts. The role will be the primary lead on detailed civil, structural steel, and concrete designs and specifications.

This role reports to Nexus Circular’s Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
  •  Develop detailed civil and structural steel and concrete designs based on information from other engineering team members.
  • Design structural steel and concrete elements to support process equipment.
  • Using design software to create project drawings and renderings.
  • Completing and submitting all permit applications to the appropriate agencies and ensuring projects are compliant throughout the design and construction stages.
  • Making recommendations or presenting alternative solutions to problems.
  • Forecasting design and construction timelines.
  • Managing repair and maintenance of infrastructure projects.
  • Overseeing soil testing to establish soil strength and building feasibility.
  • Doing feasibility assessments and site inspections.
  • Develop land clearing, grading, and stormwater plans to accommodate facility construction.
  • Analyze survey reports, long-range plans, maps, and other data to develop designs.
  • Review and validate 3rd party designs as necessary.
  • Considering budget, regulations, and environmental hazards during due-diligence and risk-analysis efforts.
  • Preparing material, equipment and labor cost estimates and confirming costs are within the budget.
  • Preparing and implementing project plans.
  • Reviewing government regulations and ordinances.
  • Monitoring and optimizing safety procedures, production processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Confidently liaising with clients and other professional subcontractors.
  • Potential to travel to other Nexus locations as required (~10%)
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers.
  • Registration/Licensure as a professional engineer may be required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with CAED design software, such as Advance Steel - Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, RAM Steel, Edilus Steel, Tekla Structural Designer, and/or Dlubal Software.
  • Knowledge of map creation software and photo imaging software.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.

Most recently, Jodie served as the CEO of GreenMantra Technologies, a privately-held early- stage advanced recycler of waste plastics to specialty waxes. Previously, she was President of Pinova, a PE-backed manufacturer of specialty chemicals from renewable resources.

Currently, she serves on the boards of NanoXplore (TSX) and Bartek Ingredients (PE backed) and is active with The National Association of Corporate Directors and The Women Corporate Directors.

Jodie earned degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and holds an MBA in Finance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
