ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a field management position, responsible for the management, supervision, and oversight of dredging and construction projects.
This position is under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager.
  • Pre Project:
  1. Attend pre-bid meetings and assist with project estimating
  • Project Preparation:
  1. Review and understand Plans/Specs
  2. Create mobilization and project planning (work plans, work budgets, dredging strategy, schedules, etc.)
  3. Assist with personnel and equipment selection
  4. Meet with clients to discuss their goals, challenges, project risks, etc
  • Project Execution
  1. Mobilization, setup, work assignments/monitoring, teardown, and demobilization
  2. Supervision of project and field engineers
  3. Direct dredge assignments, working with dredge superintendents
  • Management of project crew and staff needs per project
  • Reporting
  1. Internal (daily logs, production, safety, etc.)
  2. External (client, safety, and environmental reporting)
  • Production monitoring and analysis
  1. Track and monitor production
  2. Analyze and maximize production
  • Financial Management
  1. Proper procurement procedures
  2. Cost control (fuel, labor, project consumables, etc.)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
The employee must have:
  • Ability to manage a construction project up to $10M+
  • Prior experience with brown water dredging
  • Knowledge of construction documents and the ability to read/analyze plans, and specifications
  • Supervision of project staff
  • Good analytical skills and decision-making ability
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written
  • Ability to abide by and enforce company policies and procedures
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations             
  • Ability to work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations
  • Must be reliable and motivated
  • Ability to obtain TWIC
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
  • Competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results driven

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Physical/Mental Requirements
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFDs), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

In addition, a Project Superintendent must also be capable of:
  • Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
  • Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and/or for long periods of time.
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs individually. Anything greater than 30 lbs and up to 60 lbs will require additional lifting means.
  • Must be able to push and pull at peak force of 150 lbs.
  • Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders of a height of 6 ft or greater.
  • Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
  • Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
