Position Overview:  Consumer Brands Association is looking for a motivated student passionate about making a difference in the home of every American consumer. Consumer Brands Product Policy team is responsible for holistically overseeing legislative and regulatory strategies related to CPG products, from advocacy through education and marketplace solutions. We work at the federal, state and local level, leveraging expertise across the organization to accomplish the organization’s strategic objectives. This position would help generate insights and engage with member businesses in impactful ways.

Key areas of responsibility:

The product policy intern will support our advocacy efforts for policies that promote accessibility, transparency, affordability, and choice for the American consumer. This internship also provides opportunities to become familiar with CPG industry regulatory and policy processes and gain professional experience. Ideal applicants will have an interest in public affairs and advocacy work, especially related to food, beverage, personal care and household products. Examples of some of the tasks you’ll be doing include:
  • Monitor and assess federal and state legislation, regulation, emerging policies and issues that impact CPG product policy initiatives.
  • Attend and monitor industry, Congressional, and agency meetings and write up minutes and key takeaways.
  • Research and draft memos, issue briefs, communications and help prepare other materials to articulate the organization’s position.
  • Support product policy team with committee and working group activities including communications and list management.
  • Support and participate in select policy and advocacy projects for the duration of the internship.
Requirements:
  • Intern candidates are current students (sophomores and above) pursuing their undergraduate degree. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Interest in food or product science, nutrition, regulatory policy.
  • Experience working with the public, either as a volunteer or through employment.
What Else:
  • This is a paid summer internship working up to a full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday).
  • Intern candidates are available to work 8-10 weeks starting in early- to mid-June.
  • This internship will be a hybrid opportunity allowing some remote work as well as work in the office and participation in select off-site meetings.
  • Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to offer a housing stipend.
